It’s neutered but buyers still get all of the technology for a $20k savings but buyers sacrifice AWD and a lower 0-60 time.

The steer-by-wire technology is the best standard feature besides the virtually door ding and rust proof proof SS exterior.

Who gives a fuck about drag times. We want good range and price
There is a reason people pay $230k for a 911 or $430k for a Ferrari that can tie this truck or $3.5 million for a Bugatti Chiron that beats this, but a $90k Plaid destroyed in a race. People pay for performance. Wait until the price comes down. Plaid S was $135k, now $90k.

The price increase is more than I anticipated but try to configure any new full sized ICE truck to similar specs for less. The legacy trucks have increased in price a great deal over the past 4 years too!!

The cybertruck is a cutting edge vehicle with significant new technology. It is in most respects, other than long distance towing, going to be far more vehicle than we need. I mean who really needs otherworldly acceleration, 2500 pound payload, steer by wire,…etc for a light work truck or daily driver? Some time down the road Tesla will offer a more rational version at an ICE killing price but for now they do not have to.

You are rationalizing the changes to make your decision acceptable to you. That is fine for you. I want what the freaking president of the company promised, at least reasonably close. Not a 50-60% increase in price. This may price me out.

The price now is not the price you will pay when you take delivery, if delivery is years away.

So the only rational question now is do you need the $100 back right now. Otherwise wait and see, and possibly things will change in your favor in the meantime once ramping gets locked in.

That's what I would do, regardless of if I could afford the truck now or not. I just don't need the $100 back right now, that's all this option is costing me.

You are misquoting as badly as the lame MSM in this case. Tesla plainly specified that prices displayed in the original reveal were Estimates. That is totally different than a "promise":

Many will not like the prices but it's a totally redesigned truck now anyway under a lot of unexpected economic and supply chain factors. You don't have to buy, but please try not to distort the facts. Tesla deserves at least that much.

I see the Beast as a silver lining in all of this. I had reserved a tri-motor for the range and didn’t need the acceleration or power. This beast has even more acceleration, less range, and identical payload and towing for $30K more. So I am dropping back to the AWD and will put away some xtra for the range extended, if I decide it is necessary when my number comes up. The beast made the decision simple.
I am going to switch from the tri to the dual and hope they don't put cheap rims on the dual. I would buy the upgraded rims if doesn't push me over the $80k federal credit.

After looking at the income poll, I've realized this forum is mostly wealthy/upper income levels, which isn't representative of most people.
I'm referring to contractors mostly. they spend the $$ on their work trucks and write off as business expense.

tell me how it's changed, really.
Is this a serious question, or tongue-in-cheek? Elon made a point of saying that legacy auto manufacturers show a prototype, and by the time it comes out, it's totally different. How about being shown 3mm exo, and it's now 1.7mm? Sail storage, now no sail storage? $50,000 to now $80,000 for AWD? That's a BIG one. 6.5 foot to now 6 foot bed? Cyberquad at launch to now kiddie quad w/no suspension? 500 mile range to now 340 miles? 16" suspension adjustment to now 14"? I also never expected to see an ugly-ass battery pack shoved into the vault, of all places. That's gross looking, and so is the aftermarket-ass-looking upper light bar. When I'm teased a certain product, I expect it to be the same, or better. This is far from the case.
