So, the Quad motor is supposed to have the capability to tow 14,000 lbs. That seemed like a lot to me until I started weighing my rig. Now, I have a Silverado K2500 HD, weighting 6,000 lbs. My 16 ft. PJ dump trailer weights 4,800 lbs. If I load the trailer to 6 inches below the rails with Type 2 base gravel, the whole shebang weights 26,700 lbs. No wonder my Silverado could only climb a steep but short hill at 40 m.p.h. with the engine screaming! Subtracting out the pickup, the load is 20,700 lbs., more than 6,000 lbs. above the CT limit. It is more than the 14,400 limit on my Silverado, but the Chevy was able to make the short run from the pit to the site, only straining on that hill. Will the CT be able to do that, too? Or, will the CT refuse to move at all?

As long as the tongue weight isn't too much, the total weight is more of a safety thing. If you're going really slowly and gently and the trailer has brakes, you're almost always fine. It's when you hit a dip or a bump that causes the trailer weight to buck and shift that will cause issues.
