I think you guys are saying the same thing.

The vault is the bed of the truck, when it includes the smugglers bay, and the L-track.

Which I personaly think is stupid naming. The vault should be a truck bed that locks.

You are all missing the point, the description on the new trim lacks the word “vault” meaning it is not a secure hardtop but rather a soft cover which is not theft proof like the premium trim.

I don’t really have much to add to what others have repeatedly told you. Here’s what CT’s lead engineer said:

Here’s the comparison from Tesla’s website:
Tesla Cybertruck Type of tonneau bed cover for Dual Motor AWD trim? IMG_2894

Motorized tonneau covers are included on every trim. How would a soft tonneau be motorized anyway?

Believe whatever you want. Don’t really care. The reality for people living in the real world is the base trim’s tonneau cover is the same.

yeah, the top is soft, definitely "not a secure hardtop"

Maybe what OP is getting at is by the time they start delivering Basics they'll have redefined what hardtop and motorized means 🤣

Wrong. It sounds like the definition of “Vault” should be hardtop. But it’s not.

Vault Definition: Hardtop locking truck bed with L-track and Smuggler’s Bay.
This is Tesla definition, not a “common sense definition “ remove the L-track and keep the locking hardtop, no longer a Vault. Remove the Smuggler’s Bay keep the locking hardtop
No longer the Vault.
It’s all just marketing.

Someone on YouTube mentioned a softer cover, still retractable but not strong enough to stand on. And not theft proof hence the word “vault” removed.
A lot of people purposefully spread anti-Tesla, anti-Cybertruck fake narratives to make it harder for Tesla to sell. Only dumb people don't figure it out.

The upside to all this fakery? Well, it increases the average intelligence of Cybertruck owners compared to owners of other truck brands. 🤪

A vault is typically a room which has lights, additional storage, etc. It implies luxury more than anything. By stripping out all the premium features you have an ordinary safe. Perhaps they should have changed the name to "bed safe"?

I wouldn’t say that “only dumb people” don’t figure it out. It was pretty stupid of Tesla to change the name of the Vault to non-vault due to something other than security. Imagine going to a bank, and them saying we don’t have a vault any more, and your like “what’s that giant room with the huge locking door?“ and they‘re like “oh that’s the safe place we keep the money, but we took out the non-locking storage box on the inside, so we no longer call it a vault, what are you dumb??”
