Yes on the charger, just to be clear my install worked and I drove for a day... Mine bricked 10 hours later. I think the truck used the 48v battery down to zero and turtled overnight. Teh bad part for me now. I was able to get the frunk open using the leads. The wrecker attempted to jump it and the doors opened the screen came on but it would not release the cable or open the tailgate. After a bit we gave up and asked Tesla to send mobile service. While I was waiting for them it started to rain so I lowered the frunk and now it won't pop, the release anymore. It's truely bricked now. Maybe mobile service will be able to something but they never responded... It was Christmas eve so I get it. Hoping for good outcome tomorrow.(26th)

Tesla needs to allow external drive backups so you can reboot your Tesla like your phone.

Be an external drive or better just reboot over the air.

Would save a lot of trips to the service center.

But to brick the vehicle. Wow! And agreed a warning from Tesla would be nice.

Apple always tells users to back up their phones prior to update, just in case.

I am also in the same boat as you. I updated and it bricked Sunday morning. Waiting for the mobile tech tomorrow to get it powered so that I can unplug it from my wall charger. They couldn’t tow because the tow truck driver couldn’t get the 48v powered to unplug.
There is a manual release cord that allows you to pull a cord and it will release charger hose. It is behind the plastic cover on drivers side tailgate. Read owners manual, it really helps.

It doesn’t help when it requires you to open the tailgate and the tailgate requires you to have power. You see, it’s a flawed design. And yes, I read the manual.

Yes I'm aware. If you read my post you will see I cannot open the tailgate to get to the manual release. Literally says that two posts above this.

Skip to 2:30 in this vid to see how to jump start the truck and open the frunk etc w/ a dead low voltage battery. There are some wires by the front leftside bumper that can be accessed in a locked truck. Hope this helps.

I appreciate all the help but everyone needs to read the posts... we are way past the jump start part. We've opened the frunk, jumped the truck, but it still will not allow tailgate or charge to release. Only the driver side doors will open as well that is a new development. Yesterday the main screen never booted but the app could communicate without much success. Tesla has been out twice now trying to get it disconnected but failed. Waiting now for round 3.

A lot of people missed the part that Tesla mobile did the same steps and process, including myself and the tow driver. What I ended up doing is removing my wall charger completely just so they can tow it, it’s an easy process that took less than 5 minutes to do. Not sure where you’re stuck and if you’re at home, that would be best. Just received my loaner yesterday and I’ve been informed that they’ll know more by next Thursday, January 2nd.

I was just reading how to remove the wall charger ... hopefully it's as easy as it looks. I did not install it, the PowerShare folks did that and it make me nervous since it's on the other side the meter.

Throwing spaghetti at the wall.....guessing that the exterior tailgate release button doesn't work when 48v power is supplied and the screen doesn't boot. By chance, does the tonneau move with the exterior buttons? Hopefully it moves just enough to get to the manual tailgate release.

More spaghetti....wonder if there is a way to get to the release cable from the wheel well. ?

so nope and nope and probably not. None of the exterior buttons work. Also the Mobile service guy said the release is not accessible from under the wheel either.

Here is what I think... 1. I think the tailgate is actuated on both the left and the right side. There was a thing on my Model S where all of the left side of the vehicle would not get power after a 12V fail and you had to unplug the cable under the rear seat. I wonder is this is the case. I'll be honest I build robots for a hobby and I am tempted to build a quick 48V battery and try attaching it to the jump point to see what will happen. My wife is telling me no so I am giving Tesla at least a 3rd chance.

In my experience, advice from Tesla techs should be taken with a grain of salt. ?

Even more spaghetti ... (damn, it's getting messy here!) ... was the low voltage system completely disconnected? I understand that the frunk unlocked with a jump, but maybe there is a subsystem still online preventing the tailgate from opening.
