550 miles in and already chipped... I am not sure when that happened but was surprised to see it. I don't recall hearing a loud sound that you'd generally hear with an impact like that.

Is it me or does the glass on the cybertruck seem fragile? No idea how this happened but I just got the truck a few weeks ago. I doubt Tesla will cover it. Anyone have any experience with a windshield replacement? Safelight is quoting $1350 but I’m sure Tesla would be at least 2k. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance.

Hey did anything hit the windshield? If you have TESLA insurance...that's the best way to go they have an agreement with Tesla for half price on the windshield. Mine cracked with "NO IMPACT" to the windshield and the service center refused to cover it and I also had another issue with them. They BEYOND SUCK and I SERIOUSLY ADVISE no one to use the Rockville, Md (1300 Rockville Pike) service center DO NOT ! ! ! DO NOT ! ! ! GO ANYWHERE NEAR that Service center for NO REASON EVER ! ! !

That’s what I’m dealing with, I have no idea what could have hit my windshield to cause such a huge fracture. It doesn’t even look like a rock chip normally would. Service is looking at it so well see what they say.

I don’t remember anything hitting the windshield that would have caused this kind of damage. Unfortunately I don’t have Tesla insurance ?‍♂

It's possible that it didn't happen while driving... Could have been someone threw something at it in a parking lot or such...

Check with your insurance company though, they usually cover it under 'Comprehensive' coverage... You would have to pay the deductible though...

Please send us a copy of the invoice if replaced for free by Tesla. Wording is important. Using the words goodwill if covered would be my guess.

I personally don't think they should. If one didn't see it or hear it doesn't mean it didn't happen. This is a hit by an exterior object. Sorry to be the bearer of the bad news.

I’ll report as soon as I get an answer.

The fracture looks systemically deep to me, so I would say stress fracture from defect in manufacturing. If they reject that idea, make them show you definitive proof.

Is your truck a foundation series (lower vin)?
Did you have the windshield tinted?
Did it crack while driving and something hit it, or due to thermal expansion?

Non foundation made Jan 29 2025
No tint
Possibly a stress fracture

Yea you should have the decent glass from the later models, would try to get Tesla to swap it.

I read on another post Tesla would cover the replacement if they see it’s not due to an outside impact it, like a rock, caused the damage. Things like this happens all of the time. Not just Tesla.
