What about from the outside? Do you have to open the side window to reach the buttons?

Actually just open the back window first since the cover above the tailgate follows the same slope as the tonneau cover. The new back window will also have a center handle instead of two locks on each side, which is easier to open!

After using the version 2 rack for quite some time now, a couple suggestions that may or may not be helpful....lol. If the tailgate could open without having to open the rack back hatch that would be awesome. many times I want to get in just the bed and not open the rack hatch.....especially for a bed slide in the future. If the open/close/Tonneau cover buttons could be accessed without opening anything that would be nice as well. I love the closed and clean look of the rack windows, but also like the ability to attach items to the molle of the first gen rack....maybe if there were molle's that could be attached to the window locations on the exterior and have both? I love my gen 2 rack and it is amazing

The tailgate cover follows the tonneau slope so the inside edge sits a bit higher, meaning you’ll need to pop the hatch first before opening the tailgate. Sorry about that! Good news though: we just dropped a new inner MOLLE panel with a cutout that lets you hit the button directly.
