Would you like Tesla to add alternative options for turn signal controls?

Voting "No, no one should have the option" makes zero sense. Why would removing options from other people help anyone? As long as its tied to the user profile and default for everyone else. So many people here are hard headed. :ROFLMAO:

Telsa is now selling turning stalks for the new Model Y, because they know a lot of people prefer it.

I made this with a 3D printer.

Having options is great. I approve of this.
Remapping the turn signals is not a "no", it's a "omfg hell no". No. Just, no. GTFO no. I'm pretty sure NHTSA would have cow, they wouldn't even let farts out of the PWS speaker "because safety". NO.

If a vendor wants to make a little toggle switch to mount on the back of the squircle, then you could have an analog to the old-timey stalks. But the buttons need to work always.

This I can agree with. I think it would be a big help if they put little raised bits on the sides of the roller which made the ball easier to toggle left and right.
What they should have done instead of the scroll wheels is put thumb joy sticks from an xbox or ps5 controller. That would be awesome

Have you met "other people"? They're idiots. "Mode confusion" is a real thing. Vehicle safety equipment, including the controls, should not be customizable. NHTSA would never allow it anyway.

Does every valet have their own "driver profile"? Will guest drivers know if you decided to remap the brake and throttle "because I should have freedom!!!!!"

So after driving the truck, which I love, the controls on the steering wheel are just not thoughtful.

Turn signals should be on a turning stalk, full stop. Just like Elon was wrong on the Yoke, he's wrong on the stalk.

But, even if you want to put them on the wheel you need to place them in a way you can actuate them without having to look down so they are muscle memory controllable.

Suggestion 1: Change the turn signal buttons into Next/Previous track for music, and use the left right toggle on the scroller for the Left/Right turn signal actuation. The scroller can still be volume.

Suggestion 2: Make The left/right toggle on the right side of the wheel to let you move from Chill, Standard, Custom, Off Road modes.

Driving modes. I FREQUENTLY need to change driving modes as my commute involves both off road and regular country roads and highway modes.

I personally think the above would make better DEFAULT controls and more intuitive, but at least offer an option to remap these. Maybe even let users remap them more broadly.

The turn signals in particular suck. I can use the palm of my hand to actuate bottom turn left indicator without looking, but you can't just "rock" (like on a guitar neck) your finger over the top turn right indicator as their is a little lip that makes that fail a good amount of time. So then you have to kind of look down to get your finger into the right spot (TWSS). Yes, it's not a big deal. Yes, you can get used to it. But I also think the above are easy fixes to make the controls much better for many.

And if there is a way to already do this, PLEASE PLEASE any pointers would be greatly appreciated!
Someone probably said this but for the drive modes, you can assign that to long press on left scroll wheel. For me, it means "long press and scroll wheel down one click" enables BEAST mode. Then, when I'm done being aggressive, a long press and scroll up one click = STANDARD mode.

I respectfully disagree. Valets get in new, never used by them before cars, everyday. Controls are slightly different in all these cars. Having the volume buttons and cruise control toggles adjustable isnt a bad idea, especially because Tesla didnt even label the scroll wheels, so their function isnt explicitly obvious. Their function is already customizable right? I think you can change double and triple clicks.

I do agree with you that adjusting buttons labelled as a turning signal into something else into something else would be bad. Maybe make the labels tiny digital screens that change.

Love this idea but the scroll wheel in the middle is another dimension of control that’s static or parkable like a throttle or volume knob. You could achieve both with a joystick that can also be turned like a knob I suppose.
it would add a second y axis that returns to center like the left and right.

Probably need a revised poll if you actually want to know people’s opinions on this because some aspects of the choices are a turn off based on purely phrasing.
Nobody else should have that option? Anyone with any history of exposure to multiple choice gamesmanship would never willingly pick that answer for example.

The poll has been extremely useful in gauging the populace of this forum.

No reality will change the koolaid. Not even Tesla itself backtracking.

No one should have clicked the No option, because, it's an option. And all it did was show the character of people voting, to be of the type of person that has the following psychology: if I dont like it, i don't want anyone to be able to have it. Very telling.

Good job insulting everyone who disagrees with your position / viewpoint / perspective.

Haha.

Coming out of your bubble can be scary.

Poll is bad.

I’d be open to scroll wheels tracking L-R for more options. Tesla default controls are intuitive

Relax, options are beneficial. Improving ergonomics further enhances safety standards.

These functions will eventually become verbal commands to Grok and there will be no controls. Till then, I'm good with the current control set up.

There is no virtue in having customizable driving controls, and some mods are illegal. Hell to the nah. Customization of functions unrelated to driving is fine.

Ergonomic improvements of the controls should come from the manufacturer.
