I've never even tried to use windshield wiper but today when toggling the camera view with the camera button on the steering wheel, the windshield wiper activated.

That may be a desired effect: It will wipe the window to improve the view for driver aids and assisted driving modes.

Basically, it will use it whenever it thinks the view could be occluded for the cameras.

I have no idea of this is happening or if it's a bug, ot if you fat fingered it, tho.

No way I know of to accidentally hit any of the other buttons at the same time. Was toggling the camera views at the time, not moving my thumb and using the tip of it at the edge of the button cluster on top of the camera icon. It's all one surface though, maybe there's a short of some kind. Even if you hit another button, it's function is to just activate the wiper once and do nothing else? It's the first time I've ever seen it do anything so at least I know it can work now. I'll probably never drive it in the rain though.

No rain or anything else on the windshield.

I've also had it going to reverse once after selecting forward on the screen and seeing the animation of the truck moving forward but after hitting the accelerator it went into reverse.

Rain isn't the only thing that triggers the wipers. It's a pattern matching model that doesn't always work right.

?‍♀

Why would you never drive it in the rain?

It may be a double click of the camera button that activates the wiper.

My experience with the phantom wiper activation was linked to turning the TACC on and off...which aligns quite nicely with @Crissa 's post here RE cameras. Have a service appointment scheduled the first week of September for the regen vibration/motor, and a rubbing of sorts at the back of steering yolk against the steering column during left turns (trim installation appears to be the root cause of this), and just requested the wiper motor be addressed at the same time.

I submitted a service request for the wiper motor right when the recall was announced, but got the big stiffy and was told to wait until Tesla contacts me regarding the recall.

Hurrying up and waiting over here...

Yeah, if you turn on TACC or FSD, it turns on the auto wiper. Of course it should, it needs to be able to blink, so to speak.
