Cool, keep us in the loop.
One plus is most people's vault gets VERY little sunlight/UV exposure, and is semi sealed, ideal conditions for something not to dry/fade out. Be interesting if your exterior trim pieces faded significantly faster than the interior of the vault.
Also still pretty cool up in the NE 40-70s is a good temp so solid conditions for longevity.
Agreed, which is why it shouldn't look like this in the first place, but everyone here seems to have the same issue, so it's not just me. The stuff I put on does say it has UV protection to prevent it from fading so I'm curious to see how it does long term myself.

Yeah mine is looking pretty crappy. It’s been used quite a bit but still. I’ve been eying this (it’s a site sponsor / I have no idea on quality, longevity etc).

The link you posted looks pretty good, but the price for the whole bed is pretty steep. They do make roll on liners that look similar, maybe I'll look into one of those if this doesn't hold up.

VRP was good for me on my Tesla trim, for about 2-3 weeks at best. It did repel dust pretty well though. I personally would look for something else at this point. For the labor involved vs the return, can't say I was impressed.

So I bought the Cerakote wipes.

This worked much better with one major caveat. Don't use it on something that is pretty new and still might be gassing. It will bubble and look like crap. If at least 6 months old, you'll probably be ok. This worked so much better and on a 10 year old motorcycle, the trim came out almost as good as new. I just hate it comes on little wipes and not a bulk applicator. I do like how well it turned out.
A few people have commented already that the one I used doesn't seem to last either, that's disappointing. How long do the wipes you linked last? I'm assuming other than some kind of paint or coating will be the only way to get a permanent. solution. That sucks

So far they have lasted 6 months on a vehicle that sits outside every day in Texas. No issue yet. They claim 200 washes.

Cool, any idea how long your buddy has had it on there?
A lot of these products look GREAT when applied, but then a week or a month later fade to looking the same.

The Cerakote hasn't been like that. Even in the vid, the guy calls out the Cerakote as well as being great.

It uses a lot of material, all our prices are based on the square footage of the material, but yeah, the entire bed adds up. If you did want to do the entire bed, this link will add everything needed to a cart, and add a 30% discount, honestly, with the time it takes to make these kits (they're all me) and shipping costs etc, that's as good as the pricing can ever be. The alternative is to build your own bundle for up to 25% off. I know times are tough for some people, including us here at AO, so I'm trying to do what I can to keep things reasonable when costs are being forced up everywhere.

I will say though (as an owner that hates the dusty-grey look of the bed, not the bloke selling it!), once applied the difference is night and day, and it won't fade.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to share. I hated the way the plastic trim in the vault bed looked (came that way since I've owned it). The plastic looked faded, stained from water getting inside the bed, etc. I always thought it looked terrible. I tried a few things on some spots that didn't really work - cleaning it with car wash soap, rubbing alcohol, tire cleaner, tire shine, etc. Anyway, I tried this stuff VRP by chemical guys. I think it worked pretty well, this is just a first pass and I may go back and do another coat - it doesn't seem to dry out and disappear like other things and left a pretty nice finish. First pic is what I started with, second one is the final of a first pass minus the tail gate, last pic is just to show the difference up close. I used about just under half a bottle (the plastic was very thirsty) and a microfiber cloth - you have to rub it in really well.

Btw, I'm not selling anything or sponsored by them - just a guy who went to Autozone, bought the product and liked the results.

Looks good, but I wonder how long it will last. I see another use for the "Not a Flame Thrower" perhaps :) I had LINE-X spray by bed and it looks great.

As a product, Xpel says 10 years. With regular use in on a truck bed, probably less, but I've had it applied to the 'ribs' for over 8 months now without any issues, but most of what I'm loading is boxes of stuff and the occasional sheet of ply or MDF, as opposed to the grittier stuff you'd find at the builders yard. It's good stuff though, and since it's a modular kit, if any bits do get damaged in the line of duty, it's an easy replacement.

Holy smokes I would recommend NOT using VRP.
I grabbed a bottle on my way home the other day as my bed looked pretty bad, but it was late and I was tired so I just did a little test section (in red). After a day and a half in the sun it looks TERRIBLE, worse than originally.
Might be ok if the vault is closed all the time but holy cow make sure you test it on a small area.
OP I hope yours does not look like this.

He’s had it on for 9 months and just reapplied over the weekend.

9 months is pretty good, he didn't happen to take a 9mo pic did he?
I can handle once or twice a year if it looks good inbetween

I’m curious whether ceramic coating will help protect the Vault bed liner after restoration. I’ve seen a lot of people use it on plastic trims like the B-pillar, and it seems to work really well.
