I would have paid the $1000. I did so with my Model 3 back in March 31st, 2016. Got it 2 years later.

$10,000? Would you still reserve it? Do you think the reservation numbers would be as high? Waiting several more years for a truck simply due to manufacturing is a hard pill to swallow. oh btw... first post! Hello all!
It’s a fantasy, though, because once Tesla started taking reservations those numbers were secured. How could they back out of it and start over without the world making too much noise? And you are right (whoever mentioned it), favoring people that have the cash on hand isn’t right at all. I thought the $2,500 deposit on the Model Y was ok, within reason, but Tesla even abandoned that. As a result I wonder what the point of the question really is...

Nah. $100 is fine. Too much more and I could have that money making money somewhere else for a year or 2. Like in TSLA.

Not any type of serious point that's for sure... I'm mostly referring to $100.00 being fairly easy for most people who can really afford one. It will obviously inflate the reservation numbers and make it hard to know for sure who is all in, and where your place in line truly is.

Today I’d probably go as high as $5k. Still have some questions about it and want to see the final production model before going higher.

The $100 point of entry worked perfectly for me. I was only about 20% on board when I got my reservation. But that caused me to look into the truck more. And the more I looked the more I wanted it.

Yes there is a line.

There may be regions that get served first, but within those regions a higher number will go first for the same model.

I doubt like you that the base model will ship first, so those that high a low reservation number but want a base model will probably come after higher numbers that want a tri motor.

I’m close to the factory, so hoping they start closer to the factory for reservations.

I don't think the Cybertruck will have side mirriors, even at first. The NHTSA has done testing for cameras instead of side mirrors and I read the report, their findings show a lot of benefits for cameras for visibility in night and day time as well a wider views and able to see things far away.

I think right now, the side cameras on current Teslas aren't good enough, they certainly aren't as clear as the rear camera for backing up but they weren't really designed to be seen by the driver. Tesla added that feature for drivers when drivers learned it was possible through sentry cam videos, at least that's where I believe the demand came from.

I suspect that the Cameras on the Cybertruck and Roadster will be just as clear as the rear camera and will give far better visibility than side mirrors and I also suspect that this will be allowed with Tesla pushing for it and since it's already been studied by the NHTSA showing clear benefits.

But it doesn’t make any difference in the end. Your number comes up when it comes up. If the sticker price is too high for some, or they change their mind, or their circumstances have changed, or they buy a Rivian, or whatever, then your number comes up sooner.

$1000 to get my Cybertruck? 100% would do it. Even if that didn't come off the total cost of the truck. If it just cost $1000 to preorder it, I still would do it. We would probably have less than half the current preorders, so I could get much sooner. Also once the Cybertruck is released and more people see how nice it is and what it can do. I expect even more orders before we finish delivering the first half of the current preorders.
You know that’s $1000 USD ?

I do remember what you are talking about as well. But it was a different system than the cameras that would currently be on Tesla. This also isn't really about Tesla, this is just a the feasibility itself

I was ready to put down decent money on launch night, glad I didn't have to and I managed to be around 2000 in line for dual motor according to the spreadsheet.

Worked out for me anyway.

I would not. Because it would be dead money. I am now getting dividends on the money I will be using to buy the truck. I don't expect to get my truck until late 2023. I know the production date will be pushed out just like other vehicles had.
