My other vehicle is the model X, we also have a Harley and BMW Z4 (satisfy my stick driving) so I am happy right now.

lol yeah, to each his own. I just hate the idea of digitizing road farts ?
Yeah the “exhaust” is super gimmicky but I’m sure some people would like it. But the actual aspect of playing around with paddle shifters that “change gears” is actually really cool. I have no doubt that people would love to play around with that because it really is a blast.

BMW i3 - I wish I could say this because it's such a great car. Polarizing at first but the unique design is very purposeful and so fun to drive (does this sound familiar?). Unfortunately, I won't get a car that doesn't have enough to range to be a primary car. If BMW gave it 250 miles, I would snatch one up even as a Tesla fanboy. The Range Extender was actually a novel solution to the short range but now we have batteries and 3rd party supercharger access that eliminate the need. I would have loved a scaled up van sized model. Also unfortunate that the i3 community, at least on Reddit, are radically obsessive CT haters with no self awareness lol.

My final answer is a Model 3 because it's smaller and easier to whip around compared to a truck.

We've had our Cybertruck for almost 4 months and it's been the go to vehicle for pretty much everything. We're ready to retire our other gas car (we rarely drive it) for a second EV, but we're not sure what.

I just want to hear what your ideal second vehicle is to the Cybertruck and why? Or maybe the CT is all you want/need?

Here's where I'm at:

Cybertruck 2: Return to Cybertron - We half-joked about getting a second Cybertruck because we love it so much, but it seems somewhat impractical since we both drive together most of the time. What are we gonna do, caravan in 2 Cybertrucks everywhere we go so we can both drive? Also, not sure if 2 will even fit in our garage.

Model 3 - I traded my 2022 LR in when we got the CT, and it was such an awesome vehicle. Would buy again. Probably Highland Performance. I eyeball these every time they drive by.

Aptera - If we really wanted to lean into the unusual looking vehicles. But I'm 6'5" and not sure I'd fit. Looks sweet in black, insane range, solar panels.

Ioniq 5 - We rented one and it was a lot of fun to drive, and I love the look.

Rivian R3 - So cool. I'm not sure what 80s nostalgia buttons in my brain they're pressing, but they pressed them.

Fiat 500e - Beep beep, fits anywhere, nice small compliment to the big CT, but small size is a concern.

Lotus Eletre - Bit of a splurge, but LOVE the look, so it's on the list.
We need an EV 7-8 Passenger SUV. Or PHEV for long family trips. Ow I love and use my truck for Everything!

Second car: Aptera with steer by wire and a Tesla yolk, but that isn't happening any time soon.

I like the style of the VW ID BUZZ for a second car also.

We have a 7-seater X for when we need to haul more people. Also a M3LR for when we need a smaller vehicle for parking purposes or wanting to be more low-key. It's also the most efficient of the bunch too.

Some people are easily entertained! Fake gear changes would do nothing for me. And that's coming from someone who had a whole car full of mature adults in hysterical, gut-wrenching laughter, just from using Fart Mode in a Tesla!

I've been manually shifting gears for over 45 years in all kinds of trucks, cars and motorcycles and I became very good at it, meaning I could drive anything skillfully, with a minimum of familiarization. But there is nothing glamorous or entertaining about it, and the better you are at it, the more true that is. I admit, early in my shifting career, when I started feeling like I was getting good at it, it was kind of rewarding to know I was getting that skill down. It felt good to do it right. But it's something you get good at in order to overcome the serious limitations and inadequacies of the torque curve of an ICE engine, not because it's inherently fun.

To each their own for sure but something about downshifting in my AMG and flooring it always felt good lol. It’s definitely not the same in the Ioniq but I can’t say that I don’t understand the appeal coming from driving ICE all my life and hitting some tracks. That being said the only EV I’ve owned is my CB and I’ve never driven something like a Model S Plaid so I don’t know what the top end speed feels like when you floor it so maybe if I experienced that I’d forget all about shifting and wouldn’t think twice about the Ioniq lol.

Good answer, but not good reasoning. We have three Model 3s and a Cybertruck. I'm guessing you don't have a Cybertruck yet. Because, believe it or not, the Cybertruck is actually easier to whip around than any Model 3!

I know, incredible, right?

Tesla hasn't updated the Cybertruck turning radius spec in the Owner's Manual since they made it turn even tighter with a software update, but my seat of the pants impression is that it's the same as our Model 3s. And it's a lot easier/quicker to go all the way to the lock in the Cybertruck, no hand over hand motions, which makes it easier to "whip around".

We were daily driving our 2021 Bronco that I had ordered before the cybertruck and owned since December 2021, and I love it, now that we have the Cybertruck that is all I seem to drive because it drives like a sports car and accelerates like one of my muscle cars (well almost) haha, we have an 05 Rubicon that was our fun car and I am thinking now the Bronco will replace that and the Cybertruck will be our daily driver, I have been a muscle car guy since the 60's and I got to say after the over 160 cars, bikes and motorcycles I have owned there is nothing that drives anything even close to the Cybertruck and I can't wait till FSD to make it complete.

For an EV, the Highland sounds great.

But if in an OTT SHTF mood, there's no EV that does it, and even a gas Hummer doesn't. What does is a fully restored multifuel military deuce and a half truck, three axle, can burn nearly anything (although straight gas is not good, cut it with diesel or kerosene or something). Tough as nails, can go where you don't even want to, and can haul a LOT. Downsides: primitive and uncomfortable, not made anymore so DIY maintenance (if you're into heavy vehicle maintenance), and really horrible mileage, closer to 5 MPG than 10. The three axle is a two seat, but I've seen a two axle four door with a smaller bed, too.
