Just got an invite because I am a Tesla share holder. What a great feeling for about ten minutes. I felt like a kid on Christmas morning. But $110,000 is a lot of money. Is the foundation series worth it? Does anyone know for sure when the foundation series will end? I guess I can not accept this invite, but its almost 3 years and really would love to have this truck.

Welcome and congrats on the invite.

No one knows.

If you are not sure about the amount of money/value or it is a stretch, just wait. Otherwise do not put off your life/enjoyment.

I will go to my local Tesla sales store today and ask for info. Most likely they will deflect on providing an answer.

What is the consensus on the value of the options included with the Foundation series? FSD is worth 8,000 but the other items values are not easy to calculate.

Congrats! I got an invitation a few days ago because I'm also a long-term shareholder. My reservation number is 1143xx, and I'm in the same situation as you. My biggest concern is the sharp edges on the Cybertruck after reading the news about someone whose wrist got cut by one. Otherwise, everything is good. I'm okay with accepting small flaws.

Congratulations! IMO the foundation series is only worth it if you can emotionally and financially justify the decision for the long run knowing there will be an immediate perceived drop in value once regular versions are offered.

When will the Foundation Series end is the golden question. No one knows at this point. However if we look at it from a business perspective, if any company is able to sell a product at a $20k markup with sufficient demand, technically it’s rewarding to the company and it’s shareholders to keep it going as long as possible. My thoughts are Tesla may offer it as long as they don’t foresee demand/confirmed orders for the Foundation Series going down ?

However the longer it is offered, the more scummy it can appear especially since we’ve all waited for the Cybertruck for many years only for Tesla to charge an even higher premium along with drastic increases in price compared to the Cybertruck’s announcement. Ultimately it’s up to Tesla and Elon to balance their reputation versus immediate product margin.

We have no idea how long this will go on. But as far as the price, the ones listed on teslas site are still estimated. So who knows what the regular price will be. It’s not for sure that it will be 80k.

That's true. I'm guessing when Foundation demand starts to run out of steam, Tesla will remove the $20K premium and list the price about $14K lower. That will save people who wanted FSD $6K.

Alternatively, they might just price the Dual Motor just under $80K (as estimated) so it's eligible for the tax credit. There is no way to know whether Tesla will lower the price in one step or two or more steps (because even Tesla hasn't decided for sure). They want to have all options open to them when it comes to pricing because the future is hard to see (in terms of interest rates, how the economy is doing and what future demand will be).

Just spoke with the local Tesla sales person. They indicated if I procced with the purchase, 1,000 down, they can potentially hold my order for 6 months without going into the back of the queue. Has anyone been told the same? This would give more time for the foundation series to conclude.

I predict they will be manufactured for the remainder of 2024.
I think the 1-year anniversary of the first delivery event would be about the last tenable date that wouldn't seem ridiculous.

Yep. I said F it and am ordering the Beast - They will end Foundation by EoY and maybe there will be a total of 4k Foundation CyberBeasts.... 85% are ordering dual motor Foundation CT..... Why wait I'm 70 and a lot of trucks are well over 100-120k. One way or another it will be a collector item in 50 years.....when I'm dead but the grandkids....have fun

Literally how I felt getting the first batch of FS invites in December only to come to terms with the fact that I couldn't swing the extra ~$30k markup. Half a year later and I'm a bit appreciative that I was forced to wait while they fine tune the production and software.

Still dying to get my Cybertruck....

I agree. I still want it but the last nail on the coffin was the trade in value for my Tesla model S. Almost 14,000 less than what I paid for 6 months ago. My heart tells me to buy it. Logic tells me to wait . The economics/wife tells me I will be a broke single man if I don't wait unit next year.
