Why Hasn't Tesla Fixed the Combo Turn Signal & Backup Camera?

One of my major complaints with this truck (and one I've seen many times online) is that you lose your digital rear view as soon as you engage your turn signal. I fully expected Tesla to update the UI so that you would get both the repeater turn signal camera AND the rear view mirror camera when turning, but nearly three model years in, it still hasn't happened. Why do you think this is?

Agreed. It‘s one of the few pet peeves I have about the Cybertruck. I hate sitting in traffic with my turn signal activated without the ability to view vehicles behind me.

Tesla is the king of automotive software and could easily apply a fix.

Agreed,
The side view display when turn signals activate is consistent on all Tesla models.
It’s completely useless when making left turns. And minimally useful for right turns.
More negatively impactful for CT, eliminating rear view. I rely on side view mirrors in my CT much more than my S or Y.
At the very least, a toggle to turn it on or off would be helpful.

Yup. This is #1 on my list of things Tesla could fix easily but hasn't.

#2 is adding the camera app to the camera button function when the vehicle is in motion and not just when stopped. So weird - Tesla eschews physical buttons but they decided to give up prime squircle real estate for one that has almost no value because of this omission.

I would like each camera view to have superimposed in one corner or at bottom or top - visible text that says "REAR, or LEFT, or RIGHT, or FRONT". when scanning quickly and blinker on I sometimes think the side mirror cam is the rear.

I've been pretty disappointed at the slow pace of UI improvements for this truck as well ☹

I really want to delete my side view mirrors, but I refuse to do so until they revamp digital mirrors.

This too is on the top of my wish list. Hate not being able to see behind me when the blinker is on.

While in motion, the squircle "camera button" merely toggles the rearward cam view. However, there is a subtle on-screen button to access the other camera views.

Agreed that the UI should be able to show the side-repeater camera without hiding the rear view, but you can disable the feature completely and leave the rear view in place always:

Automatic Blind Spot Camera
You can enable or disable the Automatic Blind Spot Camera by touching Controls > Display on the vehicle touchscreen and then touching Automatic Blind Spot Camera.
This is how I roll, and I don't miss the side-cam views at all. Of course, FSD is doing most of the driving hahahaha

I turned off the side repeater function and opted for always seeing the rear view, mostly because I can see in the UI graphic who’s around me AND I’m usually NOT driving anyway! 🙋🏻‍♂️😀

I agree 100% they need to do that asap on the next update, thats my only issue and should have been done day 1!

It has a very easy work around. When you pull up and turn on your turn signal. Tap the menu button. go to controls, tap Open tonneau, wait for the tonneau to open. And use the physical mirror to look back, if your like me and removed the rear view mirror(because its useless), then just look over your shoulder. Then when traffic starts to move, reverse the process to close it.
