This week, my wife was sitting in an airport with a coworker waiting on their plane. I was busy doing paperwork for our new Model Y and a link popped up on her phone to fill out the “co-registrant” paperwork. Her coworker saw the Tesla page on her phone and told her “Whenever I see someone driving a Tesla , I know they’re a giant fucking asshole.” My wife told me that this weekend and I nodded. Then I said, “I’m sure some of the people with Teslas aren't assholes. “.

I was at a sports bar the other day and a guy asks me, “you drove the CyberTruck, right?” I nod yes and he follows it up with, “you know all your green energy is powered by diesel?” To which I responded, “I don’t give a f*ck, I drive it for my convenience because I’m selfish.” He looked like he was about to short circuit.

This is the first time for me. Just happened in Delmar, NY. Why? He doesn’t like my CT or myself?

He's a very unhappy person. Not a lot more to say.

My kids got used to both praise and negativity. They understand how people are divided over the polarized design and many other things in society. I developed a thick skin for these kind of responses. I just tell people that it's not for everyone, people either love it or hate it and there's no middle ground.

I think I recall a guy on a horse flipped off the first guy driving a car....

The future is passing right by them...

fun to reply back with:
Oh, cool! Show me on Google maps where the diesel power plant is located here in this county. Let's go check it out!

Lots of reasons. The truck was my first Tesla and I've heard from others in the S, 3, X and Y, that Tesla hate is real. Most of the time is probably political choices and the hate vs Elon being Elon. They think we support him if we buy the truck, not the thousands of people employed by this truck. Or its little people trying to feel better about themselves.
I once drove past a mom and her teen son(in the passenger seat). The son flipped me off and the mom immediately smacked him in the face and pulled over as I passed them. I like to think the son was influenced by social media and friends to create a hate for the truck or tesla brand and the mother did the right thing and tried to correct that negative attitude towards a stranger. Or she knew me as my truck is parked daily on a busy highway where its seen by thousands every day as we heal and help people in our office. Who knows. I just move past it.
If my window is open, I laugh and give them a thumbs up. That either triggers them more or they start to laugh too in a positive way.
Also I give thumbs down to other CT drivers when I drive past them while smiling :) I'm adopting it, its our move now.

That’s similar to me, I smile and laugh if someone flips me off but I’m really tempted to jokingly flip off other CT drivers.

I want to as well, as a joke. But I think the flip off part might be a little bit too much, so I go with thumbs down, its more obvious as a joke.

Except that so many I see are wrapped and they might take a thumbs down as “I hate your wrap.” I figure there’s no way they’d take flipping them the bird as serious. Well maybe some of them would but eff ‘em if they can’t take a joke ?

I've had one of these - from a guy driving a dinky old toyota corolla pulling out of a correctional facility LOL.

I can guess:
- He / She hates Elon Musk and is of a certain political ideology that is prone to emotionalism and not rationalism.
- He / She has NEVER driven a Tesla, but is prone to confirmational media bias.
- He / She works for a dealership - Tesla is a MAJOR threat to dealerships everywhere.
- He / She works for a fossil fuel company, and electrics threaten them (though there's no reason it should.
.. and the most likely:

- He actually WANTS a cybertruck so bad, but his wife wont let him purchase one, and she's sitting next to him saying "tell that person off right now Norbert - let him know you dont approve of that vehicle. (he's WBAR - whipped beyond all recognition.)

This is hands down the worst part of owning one of these. I love it but sometimes I’m just not in the mood to be an asshole magnet. People have no idea what other might be dealing with or if there’s kids in the truck. Such assholes I hate it.
I couldn't agree more. I absolutely love this truck but I have this small dose of anxiety every time I take it out just because I know these people are out there. Shame on me for letting it get to me but we're only human.

It still boggles me how people can stoop to this level. It's like someone drinking a pepsi giving a thumbs down to a coke drinker. What if all Chevy drivers were giving thumbs down or birds to Ford drivers? I understand people are equating the CT to a political decision but that's simply not accurate or fair. It's just stupid.

Thankfully, 99% of people greet the CT with excitement. Either way, I refuse to meet hate with hate. I give haters a friendly wave hopefully leaving them feeling a little guilty. But it's more likely they think I just misunderstood their gesture.
