Wiper blade warning

So had some slush on the window not frozen hard just wet slush. Maybe about 1/2 inch and easily push able by hand but I couldn’t reach the majority of the window. For some reason I removed my window scraper so I made the mistake of running the wiper to push it off. Immediately separated the blade bar from the latching mechanism. There was no hope in putting it back together. So the lesson learned was do not use the blade to push anything other than water off that window. It took 30 min with no tools to pull that latching piece off the arm.

Looks like I won’t see a new blade till Thursday. Unfortunately I live hundreds of miles from a service center but at least mobile service is gonna come fix it. I did take the opportunity to buy an extra just in case this happens again.

I have the original version from early April delivery and I haven't found the wiper to be fragile at all. I've cleared plenty of slush without issues, but this was the real test for me (turn your audio up for the full effect):

Ughhhhh, same exact thing happened here! It took forever to figure out how to remove it! Then, it was 3 days to get the replacement and bought the last spare they had on hand (just in case). Lesson learned but still can’t believe how sensitive the blade is. At least the new blades aren’t expensive, I think it was about $85.

Mine did the same thing, but I didn't notice until I was on the road. To make it worse, once it auto wiped I turned it off, but it kept turning back on, now I have about a dozen track mark scratches on my windshield.
Being 2 hours from service, I had to order one online, and was out of commission for one week

Isn't this the same guidance for every vehicle?

Warning! Please read. If the wiper is on when you leave the CT, it will be on when you drive it again. If ice formed on the window in the meantime, the blade will be ripped apart, since the wiper will wipe when you enter the CT. Ask me how I know.
1. Turn off the wiper in cold weather when you park.********
2. Carry a sock, channel locks, and a small screwdriver.
3. Make sure you know how to change the blade. This is simple "if you know how". The manual is good.
4. My blade was mangled and in two pieces with detached rubber, yet I was able to put it back together in 20 minutes. Could do this in 10 minutes next time.

Isn't this the same guidance for every vehicle?

Yes of course it is, but where a shorter blade may push snow or slush easier, albeit not the best option for removing the slush, the physics of the long blade acting as a longer lever puts more torque on the connection and may not hold up to the stress as well as a shorter blade would. Those of us who are not physics majors, myself included, may not take that into consideration and when in a hurry to move along, might risk turning that wiper on.
