Can't believe it's been 6 years since the Cybertruck reveal.

What were your original first thoughts when it drove onto stage??

I remember showing the kids and we all just stared frozen like we just saw an alien ship landing in our front yard and didn't know what to make of it. It took me a few days of looking at the reveal video and released images for it to totally click with me.

What a roller coaster! Second day reserve and thought 79k is reasonable for the Beast. In the end wait was worth it with no regrets even at 130k out the door. It was a fun lapse of time full of surprises. But here we are…time flies.

early reservation holder-watched live and really ecstatic to see the unconventional design-went to the show room and did 48 hrs demo drive. Watched/listened to all tear down videos and admire all the owners excitement. Found the CT way too big-reservation still intact-makes me feel good as a T$LA long.

It was love at first sight for me. I’ve had mine over a year and it’s still my pride and joy. Elon once said people would love the new Roadster more than their house. I already love my truck more than my house.

That was an Amazing product reveal! Couldn't wait to see it and didn't disappoint. When I finally got in 007 and began to drive, I realized it was worth the wait and then some. Reserved immediately after the reservation link opened. Got kicked off for 5 minutes before I finally was successful.

Talk about anticipation. The CT reveal was epic.

When the CT concept finally rolled onstage I thought it was a joke. I was waiting for the REAL Cybertruck to roll on-stage but of course in never did. The styling was so polarizing that my brain didn’t know whether to like it or hate it.

The most amazing part? Zero photos of the CT concept were leaked ahead of the reveal. Zero. An amazing accomplishment considering practically everyone owned a cell phone in 2019. The CT concept was apparently kept secret to virtually all Tesla employees at the time.

I kept reviewing photos from the reveal the next morning and it finally hit me that I wanted to own a futuristic SS doorstop. The thought of owning a futuristic looking vehicle that looks completely different than anything else on the road AND was virtually immune to parking lot door dings truly intrigued me. I reserved the $39,990 RWD CT at 11am that day.

After waiting over 5 years Tesla nonchalantly updated the Cybertruck website to include the RWD trim that I was patiently waiting for. Many said the RWD trim would never be offered. I immediately placed my order before doing more research because I was so excited.

After reviewing the features that were removed I cancelled my order within 20 minutes. No air suspension and the lack of the automatic tonneau cover were the two big ones. I felt it was $10k overpriced and therefore not a good value.

I will keep my eyes peeled in 2026 for the elusive pre-owned RWD trim at a more reasonable price point. It’s like finding a needle in a haystack as I’m guessing fewer than 500 RWD models were manufactured before the trim was discontinued due to lack of demand.

I reserved the $40k RWD CT at 11am the following day. Needless to say I was extremely disappointed when the RWD went on sale earlier this year for $70k after waiting over 5 years.

I will keep my eyes peeled for a pre-owned RWD model in 2026 at a more reasonable price point.
Your self-restraint is second to none. I was also disappointed about the price, but after years of waiting, I was ready to pay whatever they wanted. My self-restraint only lasted until the regular NFS trucks hit the market which were $20K less than FS.

Time sure flies. Seems like another lifetime for me. So much has changed since then. Obviously 2020 happened right after that and 2019 seemed like the good old days.

I loved it when I saw it. I couldn't believe they had the balls to release it. I put the reservation as soon as it was open. I wasn't surprised it looked different mainly because the name was Cybertruck. Not sure why people thought a vehicle called Cybertruck would look conventional.

I got to be honest, when I first saw it I didn't like it. Oddly enough, my wife REALLY liked it. Since I owned a Model S P85+ at the time, and live and breathe Tesla and search online every single day for anything Tesla related, I continued to read more and more about the Cybertruck and as I was learning more about it, at the same time the look was growing on me more and more.

About 6-7 months after the reveal, I put in a reservation for my wife's birthday. Last summer, I couldn't wait any longer and I rented one of Turo for a 3 day weekend. I took off of work on a Friday and the wife and I drove around all day enjoying it. They were still VERY rare back then and not many people knew about them. One person asked me if I made it. :)

A few weeks after I rented it, I got an email to purchase a FS. It was a little hard not to pull the trigger but I knew the $20k markup was coming off and I was hoping it would get the $7500 tax credit. The day it qualified for the tax credit, is the day I followed through with the order. Then I had delivery delayed a few weeks due to the cantrail recall. Turned out to be a good thing because while I was delayed, the 1.99% interest rate came out. The end of March 2025 I picked mine up and saved almost $30k (counting taxes) by waiting. About $5k more in financing. The only bad thing about that time was it was peak Cybertruck/Elon hate. I actually picked it up on national Tesla protest day! :ROFLMAO::cool:

The truck is awesome and I wouldn't change a thing. My only disappointment is that they didn't stick with the 6 seater. Speaking from a family of 6, it'd be nice to use this with the entire family. Still wasn't enough to make me not buy it though.

I didn't realize that was it. I thought the truck would follow, or this was a "one more thing" in reverse order.

"...That's it?!" o_O

After the reveal, my progression went like this:

I wonder how their sales will be -> Maybe I'll wait and see if they come out with a Cybervan -> I must have one of these amazing trucks
