dang - stole my photo :(
If you’re saying @ModelAZ stole your photo that’s not necessarily the case. Admin is pretty active and if he posted first without a photo they probably merged your post into his and added your photo for the banner. That happens frequently. This is speculation on my part but again just trying to ascertain what you’re saying.

This is brilliant, I think the network effect of seeing tons of cybertrucks on the road will help boost sales, so many people still think it's some small-batch truck just made to look cool and flex. Sure, it looks cool but it's an amazing machine. Once people see as many CTs as Tacomas they'll get used to them and be more willing to listen to the other stuff.

Honestly it blows my mind how many people buy vehicles just for looks.
Three Cyberbeasts later; yes, their looks captured my attention, and their techs sealed the deals 🥰

I can see both sides of this counselor. In our price bracket, no doubt aesthetics is a key driver of the decision. Anyone who refuses to acknowledge that is either lying to themselves or to the person they are asking for permission from to buy the car😁
That said, I’m not sure the Corolla is the best selling car of all time due to the extreme sexiness of the design.
You're postulating that at a certain price point people become primarily shallow? Seems like a lot of projection.

I do love the color of the stainless steel, but there's no way in hell I'd like a kia with a stainless looking wrap. I don't really like the dumb triangle shape by itself, but I get that it helps with aero so I like it despite the appearance. If I got all the same features in a R1T or Lightning and looks was the only difference, I'd probably go for one of those. It's a moot point though since that'll never happen- Franz made the best design he could with the constraints he was given.

No. I’m postulating that once the majority of value is out of the equation, the primary driver of purchasing decision becomes want rather than need and THAT is driven largely by aesthetics and subtle preferences.
Are those wants shallow? Maybe.depends who you ask.
The difference between a person who takes the bus daily and someone who owns a corolla is way bigger in my opinion than someone who drives a corolla and his neighbour that drives a Cybertruck.
That’s because the “value” point for most people is roughly where a Corolla is situated in the market.
I’m postulating that below that point, the wants factor much less into the decision whereas reliability, function, safety (debatable even at higher price points) financing options, gas mileage etc matter much more.
If by projection you mean that I have personally become more shallow as I’ve grown wealthier, I think in my case it’s quite the opposite. I feel like now that I can afford a lot more I have a much better sense of what actually is worth paying for and what isn’t. Of course, it’s not possible for me to be objective about that.

SBW, 4wheel steering, 48V were not even advertised on the CT at launch. The looks/range/price is what generated all of the pre-orders.

The 48v isn't a benefit to anyone outside of Tesla, but the rest are all what makes the truck awesome now.

The looks are polarizing and has enticed some to make the purchase and drove others away all together.
The looks straight up stopped me from preordering on launch day, lol. It took awhile for me to come around, but really it's just the only offroad-capable tesla (plus all the other cool stuff I've mentioned). I now understand that looks were a primary motivating factor for a lot of people- I just find it interesting how many of those people assume it's the same for everyone.

So for you, the main value proposition after getting needs covered is looks and "subtle preferences". I'm just saying that at least for me, the technological features are the main value proposition after needs are covered. It's cool how Tesla nailed our two market segments with this one vehicle. If Kia made an ICE truck that looked like the CT I wouldn't consider buying it for half of a second.

Yeah. I absolutely agree with that sentiment. If Kia made an ICE truck that looked like the CT, I wouldn’t consider buying it for half of a second either. The engineering is what makes it beautiful. Trying to separate form from function in this specific case for a vehicle is the key mistake in the argument that started all of this. Having a power tonneau and wade mode and an exoskeleton and drive by wire and incredibly intelligent electrical engineering and everything else makes it a beautiful thing for me to look at. Not to mention that FSD makes other cars seem sort of irrelevant now. That’s also beautiful. When I first saw it and knew nothing about it, did I think it was beautiful.? Unequivocally no.
I do know this, It ain’t no Corolla.

Why does such a company need a fleet of Trucks…?

as opposed to the 3 or Y… or…
One of the most important things for the success of any company is talent acquisition. They already have Elon, which is a huge plus on that front, I wonder if they plan to award Cybertrucks to high-performing employees as bonuses.
