Can we have this thread or another where we can give links to our own members’ stories where FSD saves them from an accident??

While driving home in FSD yesterday evening in the dark ( ironically after deer hunting) I was traveling on a rural road which took me past a sports park, illuminated and well lit. The lights, however, did not reach the parallel road I was on and all of a sudden the CT braked hard and quickly decelerated … I could not understand why that had happened and then I saw a large mature buck completing his journey across the road in front of me. He nonchalantly went away and never acted like he was interested in anything other than following some doe which may have crossed earlier in all probability, and in no particular hurry like he owned the night.

I called my wife and told her I had been spared an appointment with a repair shop as I had not seen the deer!

For years the naysayers have said the cameras can't see in the dark. But digital cameras have something called "gain" that can be instantly turned up or down with fluctuating light levels. Not only do your eyes take longer to respond, the cameras can literally see in near complete darkness, something humans cannot do.

Congrats on avoiding the deer strike, much saved time and money!

I was thinking about this just last night. My cameras at the house can see at night using infrared lights. Can the CT/Does the CT have infrared light mixed in with the headlights?

Your security cameras illuminate the immediate scene with infrared lighting. the Cybertruck headlights use visible spectrum to illuminate in front (which is much better).

Some fellers were wearing dark ass clothes on a dark ass street, over the weekend, FSD worked very well for them as I did not see them until they were very close. Probably has helped Tesla owners in the past, but it was neat to see FSD exceed my capabilities.

I didn’t drive the truck today so it may still be on the memory stick. To tell the truth I have never tried to view anything on it before (probably because no bad things or close calls have occurred).

I had 14.1.7 swerve at 70+ mph to miss a deer carcass the other night. It was nearly 2200 and extremely dark on an unlit section of rural Maryland highway. I didn’t even see it. Had I hit it, it would have been VERY bad.

Haven’t manually driven the truck since 14.1.7 was pushed out 😎

I went and removed the 128 gigabyte stick, asked Grok how to review it, followed instructions but found out it erased over it due to sentry mode recording every minute it so Grok said. Learned to honk the horn or push the sentry button to keep the footage.
Honestly, I didn’t even think about it until mentioned on the forum. I was just pleased I had avoided the buck.

The enhanced light sensitivity of cameras is a for sure thing. Sometimes pro golf matches on TV will go on past sunset, and the people at home can see what is going on just fine, but in person it is so dark that it is barely playable, and sometimes they will actually cut the camera over to actual brightness for a few moments just to show what it is really like, and I for one would consider it WAY too dark to play on...
