The interview seemed to be very good until the audio loss of quality kicked in. I had to stop listening to it at around half way through.

Smaller as in Tacoma/Ranger size?
neither a car or truck person-somehow reserved the moment I saw Cybertruck live unveil-then saw in real and the size is massive. Since then paying attention in parking lots and like the size of Hyundai Santa Cruz, Ford Maverick, Tacoma or Honda Ridgeline.

I found the bit about the lowering rear window interesting. OG had one but it got dropped to add rear leg room when the truck shrunk 5%. To me, this means it will never be added at a later date.

The audio and camera work are poor.
Tesla doesn't sweat the marketing details, and they don't want to budget any extra to give you slick sales presentations, they focus on making the value of the product speak for itself. The actual engineers put this event together with minimal additional expense (beyond their valuable time). Sales of previous Tesla models (like Y and 3) have proven this is the way to durable and increasing sales as people learn first-hand that the products offer really good value.

A focus on slick marketing is just one reason of many why legacy auto products are so expensive (for what you get) while Tesla continually tries to create maximum value for the consumer by focusing on the products themselves.

I hope they don't add a motorized rear cab window. As engineer Wes pointed out, decisions like this are always a trade-off. And they determined the tradeoff in rear leg room and cost/complexity/reliability wasn't worth the minimal amount of added functionality.

I think a lot of people who disagree with that analysis have a flawed understanding of the effectiveness of heating the vault using the cabin vents. It's just not as useful as they think it would be. It would double the heating load because aluminum and steel are very good at conducting and radiating that heat away (compared to double layer glass). It's basically a doubling of surface area too.

Sure, there are some edge cases where certain customers would really like it (for example, being able to talk to their big dogs in the vault), but Tesla chose to put the bulk of their potential customer base first by not adding features that didn't add value for most of their customers.

In the end, no vehicle pleases everyone, all the time. So, look at what's available, how much it costs, and take your pick.
