Another goodie from the call.

Q: Cybertruck? Phase 1 timing and updates on final design?

A: On track to enter early production mid next year. Elon can
drive his beta in a few weeks. Battery / pack beta work right
now.
Above is Rob’s interpretation my big takeaway is that Musk expects to drive his beta truck in a few weeks. Presumably one of the shells we saw on the dock. This is pretty big news.

Not exactly Cybertruck news but Elon confirmed that the Semi will go 500 miles fully loaded on one charge. Might bode well for Cybertruck towing... I wonder how far the Semi will go unloaded... hmm...

Lots of good tidbits about Cybertruck confirming tooling/ ramp is progressing well. A bit here on 4680.

Q: What is progress on 4680 ramp?

A: Ramp is going well. Total output 3x q/q, tracking to exceed 1k per week this quarter. Focus shifting from entirely on ramp to cost and further expansion across NA as Elon
mentioned.

Mix will shift as 4680 scales and Texas ramps. In a nutshell, ramp is growing exponentially. Going well, looking good.

1,000 GWh per year by Tesla in US alone (third emphasis).
Not sure what they meant by 1k/ week?? Is that cells? Seems quite low to me. I’ll re-listen and get better context. 1,000 kWh/ week would make me feel a bit better.

Probably different shells. Those would be training verification ones. At this point, they will make a bunch of those that never get finished.

See also the shells sliced apart for the different factory openings.

It's gotta be more than a thousand cells, because that would be one 4680 Model Y a week?

Yeah, I didn’t quite hear that and sniped Rob M‘s transcription so I think something is missing.

I changed the title of the thread.

Apparently threads were merged…

This wasn’t a quarter which will do amazing things for the stock, but lots of great tidbits confirming Cybertruck is on it’s way. Summing it up:
  • Cybertruck Production Status upgraded to “Tooling”
  • Musk expects to drive a beta truck in a few weeks.
  • 4680 production is scaling exponentially… currently production 1,000 packs per week. (Presumably for the Model Y)
  • Musk: “In the final lap for Cybertruck. Building line at Texas right now.”
  • Battery pack production is in beta.

Lots of things we’ve heard hints/leaks about previously are confirmed. Confirmation that they are still on track for first half 2023 production start is confirmed.

Looking through my Twitter feed, apparently Drew said “1,000 packs per week”. That would be 82,000 kWh.

That number makes me a lot happier.

This suggests the current run rate is 4.25 GWh. And Musk said growing exponentially. Wasn’t clear what the split in terms of location, but feels like 4680 ramp is finally hitting it’s stride.

A couple more tidbits, just general Tesla but very much applies to Cybertruck.

Musk said they are targeting $70/ kWh cost for 4680 cells right now. He also seemed very confident their vehicles will qualify for IRA incentives. This would give them a tax credit of $45/ kWh. Plus the $7,500 rebate to consumers.

Going to be very very hard for ICE vehicles to compete with Tesla in 2-3 years even without the government incentives. With them, its going to be exceedingly difficult to justify buying an ICE vehicle.

Oh is that what he said ? had some trouble hearing clearly. Thought he said something else.

4680’s won’t be a constraint for Cybertruck or any product. Worried that means 2170for CT but I personally don’t care.
