I saw a YouTube video yesterday that claimed the 9K is still in customs and when released will be trucked up to Austin. Is there any way to verify whether or not this is true from your sources?

I went to the myshiptracking.com (in my desperate need for information) and do not know how to best navigate the site. I also got a Lynx account for the Port of Houston but likewise do not know how to navigate that site. I am not interested in stealing anyone's thunder for research done; I just want to know what is going on.
I don't have port sources, I actually don't even see any new import info. It's not updated on the fly, it's pony express style(keep in mind it is government)

I THINK... it's in customers or almost out OF customs, if not released and on it's way. This shipment wasn't the whole press given the weight.

On call Elon was told he would be driving a beta in a few weeks. Press must be close/ half way built / being snuck in at that point. I'd assume beta means built with production equipment. Not a Cybertruck shell slapped on a Model X Plaid-ish skateboard like it seems they've been doing.

Your video you found actually knows more than I at this point then. Have a link?

I wouldn’t read too much into Musk’s comment on the beta truck here. They could have a CNC milled rear end to use for the rear end. Even if it shows up tomorrow, it’s unlikely the GP will be assembled in time to have a beta truck for Musk in a few weeks. Either the press got sneaked in, or they are making that beta without the press.

Starts about 1:54. He does not say what his source is and the shipping data is the pirated work you did from Alex.

Mmmmm. I feel like he may just be flip shitlip and calling it steak. I don't personally see anything claiming the press has done anything. I DOUBT we had a false alarm here, but we haven't had anything confirming yet and I'll definitely share if any news comes my way.

Thanks for sighting me. Appreciate that.

It is true that they might be guessing but that doesn't make for good press in the long run. We can do that but we aren't trying to run a YouTube channel. I left a note on his site asking if he can share the source of that information (assuming it isn't just a reasonable guess). I wonder if the customs office has a public record...

I believe customs DOES have public records, but it's not cheap to get them. Like if you have a BOL number I THINK you can ask for details and values and such but it's $250 IIRC

But like GOOD NEWS??? Want good news?

EVEN IF I WAS WRONG... The press video about "whats next". Todays day 14. So it would be shipped regardless and would arrive at port in 4 weeks, and get to GT 2 weeks following.

I do however expect 9K press news next week. Like, it has to be there. Or close.

Maybe it’s like that time I bought a jungle gym for the kids and assembled it in secret in the neighbors garage then we all walked it over in the middle of the night to surprise them for Christmas.

Nice idea but when something weighs a million pounds you don't just transport and assemble it in secret.

I always want good news. And yes, if they shipped it the day they made that video and it took a month to get to Houston (though I am seeing shipping times much higher on that website you shared the link for), then it would arrive in a couple of weeks. I suspect that the shipment you shared with us is indeed (at least part of) the 9K ton gigapress. I wanted to find the rest of it and of course find out where the shipments are. If in customs it is likely they would hold for the entire shipment.

Mmmm I think it's related to BOL. I've never done any sourcing for machinery but I have done stuff with China and it's BOL related, that's the shipment. Not the whole item.

I genuinely believe that this is part of it, and that Elon has basically confirmed that.

Just takes a few more hands….

Just takes a few more hands….

We literally did that growing up across our whole back yard. Parents wanted it cleared out from where it was for an impending pool installation and the equipment would go there. GEEZ

It takes months to get a casting machine up and running. Also, each machine appears to have a dedicated mold assigned to it. I would expect the CT rear casting to be larger thus requiring the larger gigapress. Will the front casting also require the 9kton press? They may be making parts for this #2 now. The second gigapress will be operational next summer at the earliest.

I am not expecting any customer CT before the end of '23
It just occurred to me when reading your comment that the reason Elon said they need the 8K/9K ton gigapress is for the loads it has to carry. But that doesn't mean they couldn't make 'a' rear casting with the 6K ton gigapress that just couldn't handle the larger loads, right? I wonder if the die would have to be remade when they get the larger press. Anyway, an interesting idea...

Like maybe with 6K ton gigapress rear casting they could make a short-bed (4.5") Cybertruck or Cyber-minivan??
