Looks 100% legit to me.

I find it interesting how much space there is between the two rear frame rails. It is also missing the typical cross-members you would expect. It is painted so I think they’d be installed at this step in manufacturing. So this brings up the question, what’s going to go there? Are they going to have additional batteries below the truck bed? Kind of makes sense.

Another’s thing is it looks like two separate casings in the back. So will there be a total of 3 castings per vehicle (1 front, 2 back)?

And to answer an earlier question, you can definitely weld mild steel to stainless. You can also bond aluminum to stainless with standard automotive adhesives that are reported to be as strong (or stronger) than welding.

I never anticipated either one of those things. Personally I think a midgate is a terrible idea for a truck used for work.
I disagree - I think it would be a great addition to any work truck.

And I did anticipate both of those things.

I think it's 100% legit. I agree with those that think there is no midgate. I'm yet not convinced there is no sail storage.

That panel on the bottom would prevent a wheel. Notice the opening on the other side. Also look at the cab it is very level across the top. But for some reason a foot of it extends below passenger side cast
The left support you circled is in front of the wheel arches, the right circle is the hole where the motor gets mounted and the driveshaft goes through to the wheel.

This is what I'd expect to see for a structural design. Note from what I can tell the support that comes down from the back of the cab is placed on the inside wall of the bed, which is what I have said previously should be how the load between the bed cast and the cabin should be routed, as this is the shortest path. The SS skin is mounted outside of the diagonal support, and is not structural (not very much so at least) and has enough volume inbetween for the sail storage.

I'm a bit surprised that the whole wheel arches are cast, but it would seem that they form enough structural mass through the curvature of the shape to support the rear fenders and tailgate by themselves, leaving everything aft of the motors hollow. This is great because it now has enough volume under the bed for a full size spare, which I'd prefer over a midgate.

The cabin rollcage doesn't seem to be complete around the a pillar as there is not much structure yet.

I'm also pro-midgate. I want to take this sucker camping and be able to watch Netflix while laying in my inflatable mattress and looking up at the stars. I really hope there is a midgate option... ?
Me 2. But it looks like mid-gate is out. Half the reservation holders will cancel if you can’t take your inflatables (mattress and the lady friend) with you.

Seriously, it’s been 3 years and a month since I got in line. Now these pictures look like something that was thrown together in 2016.?
Step ladder, extension cords, propane tanks, caution tape and all…

My guess is that these are for sizing the path of travel for the assembly line. They're basically custom dummies for making sure the line will work as needed.

I saw this all the time in solar.

can you explain why you’d want the filthy stuff blowing all over the cab while you were driving?

There also seems to be a large opening through the front firewall in the cabin. Will that be where you can stow the middle front seat, or will it be slide out storage, or both? But what is clear is just how much volume there is in front of the cabin, so I hope we are getting a grill lift frunk hood and a huge frunk!

The filthy stuff? If it’s meant to be a work truck, it’s going to get some dirt in there. even my current Model 3 isn’t completely clean - it’s often dirty. ?‍♂ It’s still a tool, after all.
