I said many of these same thing about a heated steering wheel until I got one. It’s sure nice to have toasty hands on a cold day.

Unfortunately, that’s where the similarity ends because I’m not taking my jacket off on a cold day every time I get into the car.

Ogre’s twin commented on the original article: “If heated seat belts encourage occupants to remove their jackets, then said occupants may end up cranking up the heater. If they don't end up removing their jackets then heated seat belts are of little value.”

Hadn’t even thought of that angle. Just the part where my car is a place that exists between two outdoor environments. If it’s cold out, I probably have my jacket on when I get in the car. When I leave the car I probably want it on then too.

And yes… if you remove your jacket on a cold day you need more heat!

I'm willing to make minor life changes, like taking my jacket off, or maybe not wearing a jacket from my door to my car, to accommodate more range and apparently be safer.

Air conditioned seats would be nice. Not having a sweaty back during summer roads trips, am I right?
Does Model Y not have them? I ask because I honestly don’t know specifics as to what comes in Teslas right now.

My past few vehicles have had cooled seats in the front and they are great in the summer. My dad bought a 2023 Hyundai Palisade Calligraphy this past August and it has cooled seats in the 2nd row as well as the front, which is not all that common afaik unless we’re talking higher priced luxury vehicles. It even has heated 3rd row seats. I am still shocked at what Hyundai included in that vehicle compared to much higher priced offerings from other manufacturers.

I viewed those clamoring for a heated steering wheel as whimpering pansies, until I got to use one in a rental. Now I want a heated mouse and keyboard lol

The big difference being I am often bare handed in the car, but never shirtless.
