Wow. Didn’t take long for hopes to be dashed. MDR really crashed around here.

With his claimed creds as being all about the CT, it wouldn’t surprise me if he has an active account here. Maybe just for reading but possibly here.

I wonder how he is taking his reputation slide.
Nah, he’s one of those people with 3 names and wants people to pronounce them all. If he had an account, you’d see it.

I tried to tell everyone that the Tri-motor was locked in, and had an inside source - but it was like trying to reason with an angry mob.

HAHAHA

You’re still wrong. MDR is guessing.

— I kid. I still think tri motor is likely.

But MDR is guessing

Fact is, what people can see with their own eyes is the lack of a sixth seat. That then begs the question: “what happened to the sixth seat?”

This guy says, “according to CyberTruck team I spoke with, sixth seat had to go because the truck shrank by about 5% from unveil prototype” - which sounds a plausible explanation of the lack of 6th seat far, and is in fact directionally supported by Elon’s prior waffling around ‘needing to shrink the truck by 5%,’ and the stated unveil on-screen specs, etc.

But then he says, “yeah based on my iPhone measurements it’s now 84” wide,” which makes no sense because that is the width of the unveil prototype in the first place (according to Elon)

For me, it primarily calls into question just this guy’s measurements and understanding of the relevant facts, while still leaving visible the lack of 6th seat and plausible the purported employee remarks RE shrinkage

Personally, this squarely into opinion land, in addition to the lack of 6th seats I also view that prototype to simply be smaller inside - to wit, compare your (very unofficial) diagram of the unveil prototype to the following photo:

Definitely very unofficial! It's been floating around the net for several years now! So we will all see some day! Just build the thing and get it on the road and in driveways already!!

I
what is bizarre to me is, as much as this guy is leaning into being the cyber truck expert, it wouldn’t take but an hour or two of his time to come into this or the other forum, and simply better inform and plagiarize the more detailed or responsive points that would take his talking head moments from sounding uninformed to somewhat accurate and responsive.

that to me, seems either exceedingly lazy, or instead, indicative of someone who is prioritizing a splashy take over a factually rigorous take.
I found him to be a really poor speaker. Seriously dude, drink some water. if I had to listen to him for an hour, I'd throw a shoe at him.

So if the rear wheels point counter at low speed, and tandem at high speed, then there is a speed in the middle where the rear wheels do not steer at all.

What a ripoff!
Maybe we can steer the rear manually with a toggle. "Wiggle mode!" :p

Did you read my whole post?

I mean… seriously.

I’ll give you a hint… I tweeted this in early January.

My point is that they thought about a quad motor because it seemed like that's what people wanted, but it's not needed for power, and only adds cost and complexity and decreases range.

I would love if they gave us manual control of the rear steering. Not all the time of course. But if you're off-roading over large boulders, it could be very beneficial to steer the wheels exactly where you want them to go. A rare use case, but shouldn't cost anything other than time needed to write the code.

You could run with 4WD using only a single motor and 3 differentials, but that's not necessarily the least complex nor most efficient configuration.

With 4 motors, there's no need for differentials at all. Is a motor heavier than a differential?

These conversations are going in circles, we have been through all of this. The arguments don't really make that much sense, at least not from an engineering perspective. Too many dumb arguments for 4 motors have been responded to with intelligent arguments to re-hash that here.

The bottom line is, will they ever put a 4 motor in it? Who knows, but I wouldn't want it as I have
confirmation from a Tesla employee that I know personally who said it's a tri-motor.

They can get 1500hp out of it and sub-3-sec 0-60 and still make it efficient enough to get 500 miles range with a single legacy motor up front. The two rear motors are carbon-wrapped units.

Let's put this to rest. Please.
