How do we know the margins are squeezed on 3/Y? Because they lowered price? Until we see 1st qtr results we will know know if that is the case.
20% price cut is huge. That amount would never be made up by cost reductions in the short period of time it occurred. Tesla should still have nice margins, just not the extraordinary number they had last year.

Like I have been saying. Guess we see when numbers come out. I'm buying more shares now before numbers are released. I think we will be surprised.

Yet the M3 “basic” was scrapped

Starting to look like the $40k single motor CT: maybe they eventually make a few, (likely at a higher price) but continue with higher end trims
The basic Model 3 was not scrapped. You can buy one right now for less than $42K without any incentives and for less than $35K with the IRA tax credit.

All of you naysayers who think the Cybertruck will be unaffordable will be crying in your soup as they price it to sell millions of them.

Yes, the Cybertruck will be a highly desirable truck with many leading features and superior specs. Yes, waiting lists will extend over a year from launch. No, it will not be priced so high that only rich people can buy them. It will be highly competitive in price compared to ICE trucks with similar specs.

Knowing you’re amongst the most bullish, I’m curious of your personal take on a few points:

(1) do you think Tesla will immediately begin selling the entire range of configurations on day 1, or will there be a step-wise release of configurations over time?

(2) if over time, what config do you think comes first?

(3) if over time, what do you think comes next, last?

(4) if over time, what do you think is the length of time between the first available config shipping initial orders, and the last available config shipping initial orders?

I’m not really knowledgeable of the Tesla precedent on these things, or if there are any reasons to think that precedent could be different this time around. The CT certainly seems a wildly different product than prior iterations, so maybe precedent has an asterisk?

Yes the $35K M3 was discontinued and only available for a very short period. We are not including government subsidies

As for the price we are all just guessing as we don’t know. Neither do you. We do know Tesla has always been a premium priced product and EM updated it would be more $.
No further updates it will be cheaper.

Agreed it will be priced better than ICE with similar specs…as all Teslas are.

Not sure why anyone here would be crying if it is less $$. I won’t.

Tesla has never been cheaper than comparable EVs. (They really haven’t had many to compete with) So now being late to market and a Lightening out there, not sure why one would think this is the time for Tesla to start being cheaper than the competition. Doesn’t make sense for them to be.

I wish there was an emoji to say I agree with what you’re saying… but I don’t like what you’re saying.

A linear decrease in price leads to an exponential increase in demand. The Cybertruck is going to be priced to match production volume. If we want lower prices for the initial production a different market strategy is required….

Tesla is close to number 1 as the most recognized Brand in the World.
Tesla doesn't even crack the Top 20. Here's the top ten:
  1. Apple (AAPL)
  2. Google (GOOGL)
  3. Amazon (AMZN)
  4. Microsoft (MSFT)
  5. Coca-Cola (KO)
  6. Samsung (SMSN)
  7. Toyota (TSE)
  8. Mercedes-Benz (DAIG)
  9. McDonald’s (MCD)
  10. Disney (DIS)

which publication collated those results? Considering Tesla plans that’s unlikely to be credible for much longer.

Air suspension, rear screen, rear wheel steering, air compressor, inverter, battery 30% larger than 3/Y, 18" fron screen, huge overall, and in the Model Y price range?
The only things in that list that are new are rear steering and screen. Sooooo. Yea, considering all the, this is so cheap to manufacture, we don't even need paint talking points. Seems about right to me

Yes, correct. Not near 1 as a Brand. I have seen reports that Tesla is in the top 10 of most 'valued' Brands. Won't be long though.

S3XY prices are near identical to when Cybertruck was first launched. I'm betting the prices announced for Cybertruck will be the same.
I think we all deserve some CyberJustice.

Any way CT trimotor or quad will qualify for the fed tax credit? Or is it assumed that the base price will be too high?
