So I tried booking a Lightbar install. Soonest appointment in Paramus NJ was mid January. I had no idea the cost(not even the service center could give me a price), or whether they would even schedule the appointment. Well, they scheduled it about a week ago and today got the attached message.

Anyone know whether the Lightbar is included when you buy a non-foundation beast? I was a little surprised to read that. I never saw mention of this being included when purchasing the vehicle. Anyway, no ETA on Lightbar availability according to the message I got today. Bummer.

That appears to one of their boilerplate text response. I believe each off-road light bar is paired to a FS Beast. You will either get a text in your app or email once it is sent to the SC. Let us know otherwise.

It’s correct that, for now, only Foundation Series Beasts will include the light bar.

Although I didn’t personally see it listed in the store or as an add-on option, I’ve heard from multiple sources—including Tesla employees—that it was briefly available during the initial Foundation Series launch for $3,500 as an option for non-FS Beasts before being quickly discontinued.

Tesla Service recently installed the off-road light bar on both of my FS Beasts, and I couldn’t be more pleased with the results.

I will be selling mine as soon as it comes in… I have no use for it and prefer the look without it. Not sure how much it’s worth, has that been published?

From my experience hooking up/wiring up the off-road light bar alone is not sufficient for operation.

Post installation a configuration change by engineering in Austin is required.

On my first beast it was already working by the time I picked up the truck

For my second beast it took almost 24 hours before engineering completed the configuration change

I’m assuming they did this to prevent any abuse like Service center employees installing them on an all wheel drive or non-foundation series truck.

I will also add that I’m aware of a service center that did attempt wiring it up to a dual motor and it would not work.

See image below. This is what you will see once the configuration change is complete

they're not going to sell the lightbar after the foundation series Beast, its why its such a low priority item for them to even install.

That is more than a bit hard to believe. The Cybertruck was originally advertised with an upper light bar standard. To not even offer it as an accessory to non-Beast AWDs would not make sense to me. To offer it to non-FS Beasts over FS-AWDs really makes no sense. I should think that if they wouldn't offer it to every vehicle they shouldn't offer it to any vehicle. Why bother even giving us the electrical port where the light bar would be mounted otherwise?

for third party light bars. The foundation series was the one that is meant to be closest to the reveal. Non foundation series will be about cutting costs to make the vehicle maximally profitable.

this is what my service center told me. The install is finicky too, so they don’t want to do this long term.

He’s the second person to report this and the other is highly reliable. What’s the basis for your disagreement? I am genuinely interested.

I said 'as an accessory'. If Tesla offers the light bar as an accessory it has nothing to do with cutting costs; they charge whatever they want to charge for the unit and the installation labor. As per usual, listening to SC employees is not the same as having some factual (i.e., published by Tesla) information. I will get concerned when Tesla is willing to say this in print.

Why offer the port just for 3rd party light bars and accessories? It doesn't make sense.

It makes total sense if they want you to be able to install the light bar but also want to make the factory light bar a FS/CB exclusive which is what has been suggested. Do you have any credible information to suggest that this is not the case?

Only the original unveiling and all of the statements made by Elon Musk until the Delivery Event on 11/30/2023 (there are enough references out there that I need not repost them here). He kept saying that the light bar would be standard on all trims. But Tesla changed many things; added some and removed some. They never came out and said that the light bar would be exclusive to the FS Beast. I am not sure that it matters to me. And whether something makes sense to 'me' doesn't mean that it has to make sense to anyone else. It is my opinion.

Because I really really want it! I have no basis other than sheer optimistic bias! I will it be false! ?
