Has anyone thought about how emergency responders would be able to access passengers in the event of an accident and the passengers were unable to open the doors. Since the windows are bullet proof and there are no external door handles. How will emergency responders gain access to the passengers in an emergency situation IE: roll over, water rescue, crushed passager compartment?

We'll get into the CyberTruck the same way we get into all locked cars.?‍?
are you FD?

because to the layperson it does at first blush seem a reasonable question regarding the CT being made of 3mm SS panels, etc., that it’ll be a different beast than usual. but that’s a totally uneducated instinct from the slide lines

would be great to hear from a pro

since the CT has no window surrounds, and an all glass roof, maybe FD should just carry around some baseball sized steel balls?:p

Yes. 35 years on the Little Rock Fire Department! ?

Perhaps I shouldn't be so flippant about the issue, the CyberTruck WILL present new challenges to first responders, but our attitudes about EVERYTHING new that comes along is... "Stand back, we'll handle it"

It's a valuable outlook to have about every problem I face, professional and personal. Whenever I arrive at the scene of a emergency or disaster that I've never faced before, my first question is "what are my resources?" and "Where can I get what I don't have?" We carry an impressive amount of equipment that is selected to allow us to overcome any obstacle.

Car door handles are the source of frequent ribbing by fire crews. We so often are formulating a plan to access patients in mangled cars that sometimes the Captain will ask her/his Firefighter "Did you try the door handle?" When you get an "Uh oh..." look on their face, you know they haven't tried that yet. ? Our crews are often so excited to use window punches and hydraulic extrication tools that they overlook simple solutions. We'll often assume that if the door wasn't opened by the occupant or a bystander by the time we arrive that the door MUST be stuck!

I will be interested to view the Tesla Emergency Responder's Guide when the CyberTruck version gets released. Tesla has worked closely with Fremont's Fire Department in the past to work around any problems that new drivetrains, new materials, and new hazards that come from new materials. I've met Chief Joel Baker from the Austin Fire Department and feel confident that he and his crews are champing at the bit to devise new procedures and tools to quickly access patients trapped in CyberTrucks. It must be exciting to cut apart and completely destroy a vehicle that so many people are so anxiously waiting to pay big bucks for. ?

I've been doing a bit of pre-planning for a vehicle that doesn't really exist. Stainless steel is a tough material, but probably much easier to deal with than many exotic metals that make up the A and B pillars of vehicles that have been on the road for decades. There are some wicked metals in the safety cage that break our hydraulic cutters, dull our most robust reciprocating saw blades. We deal with those that we find, by using abrasive rotary saws, cutting torches, or by removing screws and bolts that hold them in place so we can go around them. If the CyberTruck requires highly sparking saws, or thermal cutters, at least we won't have to worry about flammable fuels leaking from our target vehicle (the other car may still threaten to engulf us ?)

Rescuing folks trapped in a CyberTruck that has entered the water is one problem I won't be able to get my head around until CyberTrucks get released. It's looking like our problem may be keeping the truck from floating down river and out to sea, with the occupants biding their time until we get them out, binge watching their favorite shows on NetFlix until the battery dies.

I would like everyone to rest assured that Firefighters will find a way to deal with any emergency they find themselves in. We'll git 'er done!

ah hell! I’m an Elkins, AR, boy myself.

I left 25 years ago, but came back for a stint to work in Little Rock for the Hon. Billy Roy Wilson (fed judge).

To this day we still pheasant hunt together every year up in South Dakota, with a gaggle of other LR boys - I bet we have mutuals.

by chance just came across this

tool for first responders, developed by a captain who is also an electrical engineer, that when plugged in to an EV disables the vehicle

They kept plugging the EV device in to an unlocked ev. If it's in drive won't it be locked and the charge door won't open?

yea, device comes with a little plastic crowbar type device for breaking the charge door open

they weren’t doing that to Monro’s vehicles

though Lightning door is manual and opens in any event

Yeah, I saw that, but does that open the Rivian door? And isn't the Tesla door easily opened? The problem on the Tesla is the latch that holds the cord in will also prevent a cord from being inserted.

They would break the door. In the video he says, on site, he'd break the door, but not on the example car, because then they'd have to fix it.

Yeah, the in-post ads are probably not a good idea. But personally I find the floaters more offensive.
