Looking at the "camo" more.

It's not a camo. The pattern is mirrored on from left to right hand, meaning this is a print wrap.

Because of that all I see is a jumping figure. (and you will too!)

min with you here, as far as an OEM offering. I don’t believe there’s any automation of wrapping, and I don’t see Tesla’s manufacturing lines having a bunch of guys named Greg doing wraps with squeegees and heat guns before heading out for delivery. Also not sure how an OEM handles product warranty on wraps

suppose it’s possible, but seems odd.

but I could see Tesla testing out what would happen when customers do wraps. If only so they could decide, from a legal/marketing standpoint, whether at release to say “and you can totally wrap it, it does great” vs “people are of course free to wrap it, but we can’t guarantee that when the wrap is removed there won’t be effects to the stainless that need address”

even that seems an odd line of thinking.

but I’m at a loss for why they would otherwise wrap a CT, like this, now.
Sounds like an industry ripe for some "first principles" engineering.

Stainless often comes manufacturered with a wrap attached on its finished side to protect the finsih. This is usually a white with some lettering on it but It is possible that this is the wrap it is manufacturered with which is meant to be pealed off and was just left on.
You don’t actually believe what you just said here do you?

the odds are VERY high the paint jobs are for painting the inside and non stainless parts.. <the interior cabin> NOT for the outside... Musk has repeated over and over you can have any color you want as long as you want stainless steel

Finished stock materials do indeed come with protective plastic sheeting.

Is this that, probably not. Could it be, maybe.
but keep in mind finished stock materials are single pieces designed to be shipped... almost all of the parts for the CT will be made at the same plant they aren't designed for shipping and i would be incredibly suprised to find out they wrap it to send it from stamping to assembly that would be a waste of time and material.

and i have yet to see a casting sitting outside the factory with any of the protective wrap.

I'm assuming Tesla will start with large rolls of stainless steel, then cut and bend their own parts. Even if the metal includes a plastic covering, it would be marred by the cutting/stamping/bending/welding of the pieces. It would also be oriented in random directions (although this particular pattern would certainly hide that lol)

I can't believe we're debating this. You're not going to bend or weld SS with a protective covering in place......

I expect the CT to come off the assembly line shrink wrapped like luggage in the airport.

Do I belive it likely , no but its possible depending upon the manufacturer.

The Stainless will either come in sheets or rolls like this below and that coating is always a part of it to protect the finished side while bending or cutting . I have only ever seen it as shown here but I am sure they could request a custom mask even if it is only for the test vehiclesto stop the need for external camo

Yes, that is known. But my point is that doesn't hold up when we've seen countless views of the CT without camo skin.

That only holds water when you haven't seen the vehicle in the wild before. Doing it after years of actual views of the vehicle, for this reason, is nonsensical.
But it DOES hold water! You see, if something is watertight enough to float, then it is watertight enough to hold water. And since the CT has to float across the way at the launch site….

Oh wait, you were talking about the theory, not the truck. Oh, ok.

Never mind
