The zip code (28277) the originator used in south of Charlotte, NC. It wouldn't surprise me if someone from Tesla tossed out a little comment to see what potential CT owners are thinking. There's a showroom in Charlotte-Mathews as well as a repair facility.

I am glad I am in the local area to the plant and have a reservation # that puts me close to the top of the list. I truly believe I will get mine on or before the handoff in Q3

He offered to buy the truck and transfer to my name. All I had to do is send payment upfront for the shipping to NC. Used Western Union and sent him 3k for the freight!

How will that even work? Your reservation is tied to your name. How do you "sell it"?

I suppose you could legally change your name to the same name as the reservation holder. And then legally change it back after taking delivery. Tesla would be unlikely to catch this one but it would still constitute breach of contract and/or fraud (depending upon which state you lived in). You couldn't list the real reason why you were requesting the name change (you are not allowed a legal name change for purposes of breaching contracts).

Of course, this might be problematic if Tesla already has other identifying information on file like a SS number. There would also be a change of address required, at a minimum.

You guys are making this far too complicated. All the reservation holder have to do is have a side agreement with someone else that they will pay for the required deposits and final payment . The original reservation holder simply buys a CYBER TRUCK and hands over to the second party under the contract when was delivered. Some risk….not much if the second party is credit worthy.

There is a little thing called "taxes" which is the primary reason people are even contemplating selling reservations rather than trucks.

So…you work that into the agreement…adds some complexity, but doable.

So, not quite the same thing but… I was a day one reservation holder back when the Model 3 was announced. My son had a BMW i3 on lease that was ending and he did not want to keep, buy or extend it. He also had a M3 reservation. We simply switched. It was all above board and informed Tesla before. I guess it helped that we both had the same name. Regardless, it was truly a win-win-win, as my son was not carless, Tesla got to sell both cars, and by the time his number came up, I wound up getting the very first red M3P in NJ!!
