I have many questions. Without a clear process and good answers to some of the questions it is a bit of a risk. We are not sure what TESLA will allow?

-Anyone done any investigation into the process? Is this even doable?

-I am not sure what the process would be to purchase someone else's reservations and even if Tesla would honor it? Can we "will" it to someone else? LOL

-What configuration was initially ordered? FSD? Will TESLA allow someone assuming another person's order change the configuration?

-Finally, how will Tesla even fill the orders, by reservation number, by configuration? by geographical location?
Tesla won’t honor it. You will have to buy the truck through the reservation holder, and Tesla will probably use all those metrics and possibly others. I wouldn’t trust him.

They don't mention their (alternative purchase that's available right now) that they just 'can't wait to get into'...

There would have to be something a lot better than the CT for one to jump ship at this last home stretch before deliveries, but hey - maybe Gordon Johnson or Craig Irwin gave them inside scoop on some 'competition'. Craig Irwin said that the Electrify America charging network is "excellent", so he really must be 'in the know'...

Scalping behavior is so similar to car dealer behavior. They didn't even post their Reservation Number - just said they're 'Close to the Top' - which means they're afraid to post their RN because Tesla would see what they're doing and look them up.

In the interest of sustainability for the rest of us - and to avoid Tesla being perceived as allowing shenanigans such as scalping - I think Tesla should permanently ban anyone attempting to scalp, such that they cannot make reservations or order anything from Tesla in the future.

If one legitimately no longer wishes to buy the CT, then canceling the reservation and getting the deposit back so everyone moves up one place in line - would be the honorable and legitimate thing to do.

Easy! You haven't done that before? Just sell your name along with the reservation.
Sounds like way too much work for me. Unless it's kinda like a Face/Off situation...

There are more than a few early reservation holders that have either just changed their mind or were always simply "speculators".

They are now looking for a way to cash out of these early reservations for a (perceived) BIG payday. Reservations have a finite shelf-life, and these profiteers need to figure out how to monetize them quickly. As others have pointed out, very little risk to those selling and lots of potential downside to those buying.

I can't wait any longer, is there anyone who wants to buy contract? I am pretty close to the top.
Lonely. Lonely at the top!
Actually, I don't mind the wait... Here is a positive thought, I will most likely upgrade from dual motor to the Best available. also

It means that I will be ready to pay $Cash$ for my Cybertruck

I was not an EV fan until a year after the CT debued so My place in line is a couple years out and thats fine with me . There are also bunch of unknowns with the quantity and density of the 4680. any issues which need to be addressed after delivery and maybe they will rid themselves of that BAW in a few years. I also get to see the silverado launch so as much as I want a CT now I am OK with the wait .

For the first two years, these things will be hotter than bitcoin. Look what lightning did. People were buying for $90K and reselling for $140K. I am not suggesting doing this. Tesla is real picky about flipping their limited cars. I don't know if you'll get absolute blacklisted, but they may figure out a way to put you at the back of every future line.
I suggest, buy the truck. If you don't love it, after a year, sell it for a profit. I don't think Tesla will have any issue with that.
If Cybertruck is as good as we think it is, orders will explode after private owners hit youtube with them. Considering the F150 sells nearly 3/4 million per year, and Cybertruck is projected to produce 375,000, they are likely to be backordered for a decade.

Great questions and points, don’t forget those committed share holders that have stuck it out for yrs. They should be before someone buying a place in line and moved up.

That is the crux of the matter isn't it? The OP never seems to have participated here before and are asking questions that only someone with very little knowledge of this group would have to ask. So they are fishing at best. We have already put too much discussion into this. The right thing to do, as you say, would be to cancel the reservation and walk away, but there are a lot of people in the world for whom the right thing isn't even part of their mindset; only 'what is right for me, now'.

With about 90 days until they start delivering, NOW You want to jump ship and sell your places in line?

Head shake.
My guess, with no private emails from Elon to confirm like some of you apparently get, is that only employees with get Cybertrucks in 2023. And many people "in the know" are saying it will be just a small # of CTs delivered in 2023.

Than in 2024 Tesla wants to ramp (but it depends on batteries) so even the very early reservation holders might be waiting until summer of 2024. Maybe later depending on your geographical location.

I would work with someone that has a confirmed Reservation # in the top 25,000.
