There were rumors about testing in the Middle East for heat and Alaska for Cold previously, but aside from one or two promotional shots in the snow, no real “in the wild” photos.
Dennis, Alaska is not international ;)

This is so dope man!

Model 3 was cold testing even a month before deliveries. Nbd guys

But this is cool to know they’re doing it some more!! Making a sick well rounded product

So it would fit in the airplane. The boxes are used because boxes are easy to load, but that doesn't mean that different shaped things can't be squeezed into the space the boxes waste. The airplane isn't square.

You're right and I knew that, but the Cybertruck is still fairly low, especially with the air suspension at minimum settings. The loading volume/height cargo diagrams for the 747 suggest that pallets up to 8 or 10 feet high can be accommodated, and the CT is probably around 6 feet max at the peak. So I was thinking of a rectangular crate approximately 6 to 7 feet high.

Or course with the length and turning it into position, your points about the airplane not being square may become a lot more critical, even though to me the diagrams show some room to spare, with the walls nearly vertical at those lower heights, but those are just cross-sections.

Again, your link on the M-ATV loading was excellent.

Stop questioning how they crammed the truck into the 777… here’s how it’s done :) also, that Rolls is pretty close to Cybertruck size.

If they didn't bring at least 4 test mules they are prob not doing winter testing is my guess. Maybe some epic photoshoots in the wild or a commercial maybe.

Sadly, the test unit will be destroyed upon completion of testing. No chance of making anyone a happy camper.

if its not being done for promotional footage, this is really, really late
Not at all. In the winter they have a winter test site in North America (Delta Junction Area, AK) and in the summer they have to move winter testing to the Southern Hemisphere. Tesla never stops testing their vehicles.

In May Tesla released photos of the Cybertruck being winter tested in the Northern Hemisphere:

Tesla Cybertruck Goes Snow Drifting During Winter Testing as Production Nears (autox.com)

There's always plenty to do, Model 3 Performance didn't even get Track Mode software update for something like a year after I bought mine. Winter conditions are necessary to continue to fine-tune traction control systems and anti-lock brakes. Furthermore, with four wheel steering and fully adjustable ride height, that testing is going to take even longer.

I want Tesla to test the crap out of Cybertruck and keep testing it in all conditions, even after it enters production. Some people try to turn this into a negative, but that's a pretty funny way to interpret the facts.

Ask yourself the question "What is the purpose for the box?" Protection? Vehicles are shipped all the time and don't get scratched. What is the reason NOT to use a box? In the air cargo business you pay for two things. Weight and cubic inches. A box would add unneeded adds to both of those, and really up the cost, without a benefit. Planes don't like heavy things.

being Canadian, I don't ever imagine new Zealand when I hear the term 'winter testing '. give me one... I'll test it.

If it can handle 14 days of being used daily in Old Crow, YT, Yukon then I’m all in.

I'd wager someone brought skis with them.
Great excuse to catch a few runs down some spectacular mountains.

Any consideration that it is NOT there for winter testing... but sent to "star" in a new futuristic movie?

Product Placement, what a great way to get some FREE advertising!
