They've already validated CT in cold weather AFAIK. When should they stop evaluating? Tesla makes constant improvements.
Hopefully this winter testing is being done on a production CT, not a test one. Hopefully simply verifying the production version works properly. Can't do this testing in the northern hemisphere so have to go where it's cold.

Question for any automobile validation engineers: Isn’t validating Cybertruck systems in a cold weather environment a bit late being that production starts in Q3?
You need to validate each step.

I like, but the orientation of the loading ramp to the plane looks funny,

You do know that you can rotate the pallets into the plane, right?

And this is how the military does it, so... https://www.jbcharleston.jb.mil/News/Article/235790/437-aps-tackles-first-m-atv-load-on-747/

Though you're right, they usually use the nose door for trucks, don't they?

New Zealand is a thousand miles from North to South, so they have about the same change in climate as from Los Angeles to Vancouver BC, or Portland Maine down to the same latitude as Florida.

Yes, but I was thinking the standard aircraft pallets are approximately 8 x 8 or 8 x 10 feet usually, and the 747 pallet tracks are not in the center, but rather a column on each side fore to aft. But your source does show the pallets being turned in the center also so that's a good point.

What else is revealing about your source too, is that the M-ATV is actually longer than the Cybertruck, at 20 and a half feet, so - that actually answers any speculative question I might've had about getting the Cybertruck onto a 747 through the side cargo door.

I wasn't thinking they would palatalize the Cybertruck at all, but rather secure it down with chains in the same manner a vehicle is secured on a rollback or flatbed tow truck. But I could be wrong, and they did cover it for obvious reasons. But after seeing your article of the on loading in Charleston, it's just as likely they would palatalize it or not.

It seems a tight fight for the Cybertruck inside the plane and I found that interesting.

The source might've been getting the video from a distance or very quickly in a prohibited setting, so we can't really know if there was a way to have a more high quality or longer sample of footage. But I was saying it would've been nice if we did.

I'm also wondering why they didn't just crate it in a box, so that it couldn't be spotted. The way they covered it up, is still very revealing considering the shape.

Nice!! Would be cool to see CT drive up along Skippers Road to Skippers Canyon (outside of testing).

My guess is, it's been done on pre production. Now maybe they have an actual production candidate?

Optimistic I know lol

Tesla might just be tweaking the software for the traction control in winter conditions, like they they do with all their other models even years after they came out.

This what I'm found extremely concerning and some of the crew here don't realize that. Normally manufactures do this within 10 to 12 months prior to new vehicle release. This mean two main things and neither are good

1- We are nowhere near production dates- or-
2- In order to meet the first CT will be rush.

Adding to that why New Zealand...??? I'm having a hard time finding an argument to validated the test site location. There is thousands of acres of even private land here with same condition where you can do the test...again New Zealand because..??

Because they do constant testing. They just did a round of hot testing in Dubai on S, 3, Y, and X. It's not like they haven't done the testing before on those vehicles. So this is a regular thing and likely not a point of concern.

3- This is not the first time they’ve tested in cold weather

No idea if this is legit or not, but it could be as simple as getting some footage of the final truck in winter conditions for promotional material. It’s a bit late in the game for them to be making any last minute tweaks to the design even if they found issues.

Lol and I came all the way to the USA to catch a glimpse of the Cybertruck, now I have to go back accross the big blue pond to snap some shots...and in the cold?

It's a balmy 105'F in Austin though! :ROFLMAO:
