Absolutely 0% chance of side sails, was a dumb idea to begin with. Likely: black hubcaps from prototype, dual subwoofers, removable mirrors, 360 camera view.

Added steer by wire now- thanks. Solar cell input? What is the source for that?
I think Elon commented on that during roof solar cell charging discussion. Plus I think it is a Ford 150 camping option. It should not be that expensive with 48 volt solar cellsbeing available

After all the videos and leaks from the past week I am trying to get a summary of features and functions and group them into “likely, unlikely, and unknown” based on the hints we have.

Obviously this is all speculation and nothing is final until it ships.

***italicized items added based on comments

Likely
  • Powered and sealed tonneau cover
  • 120v outlet at bed (based on the size of the door cutout)
  • Frunk (with good/low accessibility)
  • Ventilated seats
  • 4 wheel steering
  • Sub trunk in bed
  • Powered tailgate Auto drop/dampened tailgate
  • Push button doors handles
  • Tie down points and e-track L-track rails
  • HW4 w/ bumper cam
  • Yoke steering wheel
  • BAW
  • NACS charge port w/ cool CT logo and sealed access door
  • Steer by wire
  • Oh shucks grab handles
  • Adaptive air suspension
  • Armored glass on side windows

Unlikely
  • Folding Midgate
  • Driver display
  • 6 seat option
  • Spare tire location

Unknown
  • Midgate window operation
  • Power outlets in frunk
  • 240V outlet
  • Air compressor outlet
  • Side sail storage
  • Tailgate ramp
  • Powered frunk
  • Armored glass on windshield
  • Rear seat features (folding, storage, etc)
  • Rear seat display/controls
  • High def radar
  • Light bars in the bed
  • Light bar at the top of windshield
  • Powered tailgate closing (updated from comments)
  • W/L/H in units of chickens

I did this from memory so chime in if I got it wrong or missed a feature!
I feel like they may put the 240V outlet in the frunk. I hope they kept it because I was hoping to make the truck my backup Genny. Little disappointing if they got rid of it but not a deal breaker. Sails would be nice to have but I don’t think it’s super useful, maybe to put tie straps, hitch, etc. but I wouldn’t count on it.

Here’s something that I haven’t heard anyone speculate on yet. What if CT only comes in 2 variants (tri and quad motors) and like semi, they use the 2 rear motor for torque when towing, option to lock the rear motors from the cab for other applications (launching, off roading…), wouldn’t this make the CT tow further using front motor/s . Also wouldn’t need as big a battery as the competitor.

Here was my thinking on the outlets:

The door we saw hints that SOMETHING will be there. It seems like at minimum a 120V will be there. The size of that door looks small for multiple outlets. For that reason I put 240V and Pneumatic outlets as "unknown". Obviously that door could easily change on a production model so its just my read of the tea leaves. Personally I'd love a 240V outlet to support larger V2L applications. I don't really care about the air line.

As for drivetrain/battery size/price, I purposefully left those out as the big unknows that we didn't really get any new hints at. This list was more for me to keep up with what we can learn as more leaks pop out.

The power electronics designer who did the motor drive design for the Cybertruck told me they scrapped the quad motor version because the tri-motor was much more capable than their original quad-motor spec.
The quad-motor design lets the front wheels turn in opposite directions, enabling the "tank turn" of dubious practicality. The tri-motor has always seemed like the best balance between power, efficiency, and complexity.

Unlikely
  • Folding ANY Midgate
For a midgate to be able to fold it would cause too many possible issues (safety and operational) with the retracting cover . I hope the rear window will at least go down like the tundra, I would like to be able to cool the rear bed in some situations.

  • Driver display
This is still very much a possibility as an additional option since we have already seen a prototype with a 2nd screen.
  • 6 seat option
Possible if they add a mid seat replacement for the console as an option but i don't see it happening
  • Spare tire location
The Frunk is likely the designated space for the spare , I don't see any way that tesla does not have a space reserved for a full size spare unless they have airless tires on the CT

Unlikely in the extreme:
  • Polished stainless exterior

Check out this admittedly-poor photo out my window:

Poor quality, but there are identifiable features. Now pull back, adjusting the focal length and depth-of-field, and you get:

A7308897 copy.webp

That's right, the 1st photo was taken from the reflection of an old, dirty, scratched CDR. None of which was directly visible in the 1st photo, although it made it less sharp.

If the CT was polished, then the reflections would look completely undistorted, like on this polished DeLorean:

The Cybertruck will have some kind of "finish" on the stainless of course, but only something that can be accomplished quickly, cheaply, and without human intervention.
Franz commented on an interview that they have "repeatable" technique that is a type of brush finish in this interview:

Sure. The exterior will have...something? But with little to go on, I'm leaning toward "the best process is no process" and presume we'll be getting "Tesla Minimalism".

Noted. Was just saying I think the way they did the semi drivetrain could be a big deal for CT towing. As for quad motor, not saying it’s stupid to have but what’s the point. It’s a truck and I don’t care much for driving at the track, off roading, racing so not needed.

Elon has talked about it, and more than 'maybe' answers but we haven't seen any information other than that.

It would be nice, one of the downsides I hear about the Lightning/Rivian is it sits in a field or a parking spot like a utility vehicle might and slowly drains its battery unless plugged in.

a quad motor would enable you to have one motor per wheel.. while i don't think thee software would be there initially .. at slow speeds and with 4 wheel steering you can do LOTS of space saving tricks.. including tank turns.. diamon turns crab walks etc. it would just take a lot of software design to make it all work without the driver having to know how to make it all work.
