I work in software too and I don’t think the terminology ports over super well. Trucks that are hand built are fundamentally different from the product of the assembly line. Maybe you can call them Alpha trucks. Franz’ truck says “Prototype 22” on it, and I think that’s the best description. It’s a prototype, essentially a very detailed mock up.

The “Product” is the assembly line. Until very recently we haven’t seen anything which is the output of that product so IMO they are best considered mock ups/ prototypes.

We’ve seen increasing evidence there are trucks coming off the line in small numbers—not “Release Candidates”—but largely the product of the final assembly line. Giga Castings from Texas, steel folded in Texas, and at least partially assembled on the final line. This is why we’re seeing brand new trucks getting tested in Fremont and New Zealand. They are measuring the output of the assembly line as opposed to the hand-built trucks that came previously.
This but read the last paragraph twice, and squint.

Texas makes Cybertrucks. Thank I’m lyin Craig.. boiiiii…

This is unfounded

there has been nothing suggesting a truck has come out of GFTX line, or even that the line is capable of same - much less that it’s come off the product line

y’all are wild

look at video picture of a full truck with 5 seats and say “there’s no proof the CT won’t have 6 seats”

see castings and a aerial BIW at GFTX and it’s “TX is building trucks already including the ones in NZ”

i think we might be confusing alpha builds with beta builds with release candidates (gamma builds)

pretty sure everything out now is beta, with the exception of alpha at the museum. Fairly sure there are no gamma builds out in the wild yet, built at Texas or not. Musk said RCs to come next month, and i believe him.

You can have a beta build that is close to release, but RCs are meant to validate the production/pipe line. Which is not complete. There is no way to have a product that has "potential for release," without that being in place first. This is coming from a software tester, and while software is not hardware i am fairly sure the terminology carries over.
I wouldn't call the one at the museum an alpha build, that was just a concept vehicle for show. The first sighting of an alpha was at the Merced airport as far as I can remember.

That's what an alpha is, a proof of concept.

Disagree, proof of concept and alpha are two different things.

The 2019 vehicle is a design prototype (concept), alpha and beta are engineering test prototypes (development).

If you want it to be. It probably should be different steps, but rarely is. I think you're right about Tesla in this case, though.

Big day, I recorded lots of footage of the CT playing on snow and ice… I leave it to this great forum here to discuss.

Updated with compiled video:

Coming out of the ice tunnel:

Playing in the snow:

Playing on an ice rink:

Heading home:

Any chance you'd be down to post the silver Cybertruck video directly on here? Twitter dumbs quality down and I am looking for something specific on the front of that truck. :) Thanks @MarkusNZL (warning, their servers kinda blow and it may take a minute to upload it here)

Three thoughts:

1) It was cool to see the winter testing.
2) That camo wrap is sick!
3) The spinning girl was clockwise for me at first but after a few seconds I forgot what I was trying to determine.

Nice videos!
Is the Ct using All-season or winter tires?
