I have a model Y and my wife has difficulty getting in because there is no interior hand on the inside. I hope they put a handle on the inside and I hope it will kneel down low to help the short, elderly, and handicapped get in. I have ordered 4 trucks and last year was diagnosed with ALS. I can no longer walk and hope I will be able to ride in it before my days are over. It would be great if full self driving was approved and I could get a lift to get me in the drivers seat. Or they would be a hand brake and accelerator for me.

I think running boards would help.

Kneel down is very likely, interior handle to get in is a likely no, judging from recent interior shots

Do any teslas have the interior handles? I have a Y so I know that doesn't. Also, had a reason ever been released publicly about why they don't have them?

I just did a search and it appears that the Y doesn't have them due to airbags.

That will be one of the benefits of the Adjustable Air Suspension, to allow egress and ingress at the ideal height for the particular person or situation.

up to the limits of being on 35” tires!

suspect the CT in lowest ingress setting will be taller than Y on highest

but there are hopefully aftermarket handle options to assist, and in any event will be easier than any non-adaptive full-sized truck

I thought about that very same thing when writing the post, and wondered if anyone else would mention it.

While my elderly Mom loves the Model 3, it's actually 'too low' for ideal ingress where she needs to hold onto my hand (for lack of a handle) to get seated. Experiencing this a few times I know a Model Y would actually be almost the perfect height for her getting in and out.

There is such a thing as 'too low' but with either high or low ingress, handles are a great help, and I think that's one of the best things that legacy has included in the A-pillars of many trucks and some cars. I always wondered why Tesla didn't include handles in the A-pillars of their cars, considering they're also very helpful during higher speed around curves and for the sudden acceleration and deceleration with Teslas. I commonly get asked, "This thing doesn't have 'oh-$h1t' handles?... It should!"

Since the Model Y seems to be an ideal height for Mom, I'm thinking that the low setting of the CT will be easier than many might think, but we'll know a lot more in a few months hopefully. I didn't see any handles in the interior shots of the CT, but as you said maybe they'll do it later or aftermarket will provide a solution.

I think at times there is such a thing as being "too minimalist" and Tesla hasn't found the optimal balance or middle ground, with the lack of these handles being another example.

the explanation above regarding eg side curtain airbags seems a possible explanation

I'd assume that after-market running boards will be available just as soon as accessories companies (1) get their hands on a test vehicle, and (2) enough CT's are sold to create a market sizeable enough to supply

and who knows, maybe the CT accessories team will have some (deployable?) running boards up their sleeves

Elon is all about clean lines and a spartan interior. I think that's all. I hope he makes it so the seatbelt is adjustable for shorter people. Mine is always across my neck and if I were in an accident, I think it would decapitate me. (2012-13 Model S)

I had an S and have a Y neither did and I'm sure the 3 doesn't also. I have such for them aftermarket and have not seen any. Does anyone know about after-market grab handles?

I came across this, more of a hand position than a grab handle, but one may be installed in that spot. Or after market.

The best handle is NO handle.
