I placed an order back in 2019 RN1128716XX, I hope my truck gets built in the fall of 2024.
I am wondering what logistics and how many notifications will Tesla give us if I want to upgrade from Tri to Quad.

Not sure what you mean, Tesla won't give you any notifications unless you count the configurator email. Logistics should be simple:

Sometime after delivery event configurator goes live. If quad motor is available on release, congrats you will be able to update your reservation right then and there. If its not available on launch (the likely scenario,) configuration for quad motor will be available when the option is (possibly accompanied by a second email). If you are next in line to get your truck before the quad motor is available, i believe you'll be able to differ delivery until it is.

It's also possible that changing your order from what you reserved, may release Tesla from honoring the FSD price that you locked in when you made your reservation. Early reservations locked in FSD at $7K, later ones at $8K, then $10K. Today FSD is priced at $15K. I'm afraid that when invited to configure my CT, if I upgrade from dual-motor to tri-motor, I may have to pay $8K more for FSD to get a CT as early as possible.

Side question. I see the Tesla website offers demo drives. Does anyone remember when this feature started? Before committing to buying a CT, I'd like to at least see it in person. Will Tesla be sending some CTs around the country for viewing once a production model has been released? Of course, I'll have to wait because I only reserved a dual motor and that might not arrive for another decade.

I'd also like to see Tesla update their website showing more recent photos of the CT along with actual specifications. RC#1 came off the line so it's time to do this.

They will eventually have display and then demo drive CyberTrucks. But where they are so supply constrained and have so many reservations and people saying, "Please, take my money already!" I am sure all the early ones will go to buyers. It will likely be quite some time before they take production models out of the queue just to sit in a gallery when they do not need that demand trigger.
Your best bet for seeing one early would more likely be an early buyer showing theirs at a local EV event or even doing an impromptu "show-and-tell" session at the local SuperCharger. (I will do that in my area if mine is really early).
Also, regardless of what you "picked" when you submitted your reservation, you will not be skipped over because of that choice. When they get to your reservation, you will get an invitation to configure, and you will be able to order any option that is in production at that time. (Now if you want to stick to a DM, and they do not have them available when you are invited, you can defer until your desired motor choice is in production).

Tesla will email you when you have access to the configurator. They do this in batches, until their production estimates for n weeks (n being a variable we don't know) are filled. Once they start have n for some that's unfilled, then they start opening it up to outsiders.

Sometimes you can skip ahead or fall back by changing your configuration. And outsiders can also buy orphaned vehicles - ones ordered but refused, factory reconditioned, etc.

Since none of us have configured a truck yet, it doesn't matter what we picked when we ordered - that was just a survey question, basically.

And test drives start up once they have orphaned vehicles.

It's also possible that changing your order from what you reserved, may release Tesla from honoring the FSD price...
No.

Tesla didn't promise a configuration yet. But they did promise FSD.

They would be criminally liable under California law for advertising something and then yanking it away. Not just civil penalties.

And heck, maybe they'd take the fine, but that could be a half a billion dollar fine, just for the orders in California.

I have posted this many times, apparently it's still needed for our newer members.

I'm taking about the locked in price for FSD on my reservation for a dual-motor CT. If I change my order to a tri-motor, what stops Tesla from dropping the previously promised price?

This is what I've been worried and wondering about since I reserved a Dual Motor. Though, it's hard to imagine FSD existing, because for one- I like driving and holding the wheel. At the moment I'm at $7,000 price for FSD.

The law.

They promised we could have FSD at that price when we configured our Cybertrucks. We have not yet configured our Cybertrucks.

I surely hope you are right about that. I can't find a reference to that promise, however. Do you have it?

Search Google for 'California Criminal Law False Advertising.'

We even have penalties for false shelf prices and petty things as well, but this pricing would be waaay above petty and subject to a $2400 fine. Per instance of misled customer, usually.

And that's above and separate the civil penalty of the misbegotten profits.

Yeah, I get that, but where exactly is the false advertising? Tesla doesn't advertise. CT prices were announced 4 years ago. Were Rivian, Lucid and Ford indicted for false advertising on their price changes? Even if Tesla honors the FSD lock-in pricing, they may be on solid legal ground by tying it to the trim that was originally reserved. We'll have to wait and see what happens.
