you’re right!

the *betas* have the wheel-tire alignment issue

but the production aero covers have this ring setup instead, allowing detachment/reorientation of the aero cover to match the tire pattern

Wiley engineers!
I like this ring setup, even better if they coated it with brass so it looks like coils, that would be cool looking

If someone made a trim ring to snap into those slots, add a center cap and you could have a Raptor-ish look on those wheels.

What I don't see is a large air shock behind the wheel. Makes me wonder if air suspension is standard on all variants.
Pretty sure its there and its an air strut. not trying to be a smarta$$ but there is a pretty big difference.

Tires slipping on rims is a constant phenomenon that will be exacerbated by 1000 ft/lbs of torque launches. If you're a stickler for aesthetic details like hub cap alignment, you'll be making adjustments at every stop light. ?

Hopefully only the ones just after doing a launch or drag race with the Lambo in the next lane. But yes, you have a point.

I'm thinking that the cost of air struts, tank and controller that Tesla has to make it an option and lower end models won't have air ride on them.
Tesla don’t roll like that. Look at the 3/Y, your options are color(5), battery(2), interior (2), and that’s it for the most part. The Y gives you a couple seating options depending on model, and a tow hitch. Tires and rims can be upgraded for the lower trim levels. What you DON’T see is; sunroof, Falcon door options, alcantera, 3 different types of leather, 3 different sound systems, back seat infotainment, etc. You don’t see manufacturing differences. The Old car companies are the ones trying to milk every dollar out of you with options.

Maybe the material the sleeve is made out of has changed or it was painted. It is quite noticeable in photos so they decided to black it out instead.

this is basically the point exactly

Nobody’s had tires that match hubcaps like this

I suspect several people will find they are ‘sticklers’ for this specific scenario of hub cap alignment.

I mean, just say “panel gaps” and watch eyes start twitching

Yep, it's very clear there. I do kinda prefer the shiny look though.

I guess with that upper pivot and control arm, this is a double wishbone setup on the front?
