How heavy is this thing and can it be easily removed and installed by one person?
I haven’t seen weight numbers but here is an image from the other thread. It’s not for me to want it in the bed, I won’t be taking it in and out and leaving it there taking up room is a no go, but that’s just me…. Shame they couldn’t get more range without having to resort to this.

I don't know, I think having a fully customizable vehicle sounds pretty rad. The range extender might be something that can be rented/shared owners when needed. Less weight when you don't need the range. Maybe it doubles as a baby powerwall in other uses?
$16,000! Hope they are not easy to steal.

Called the pricing for both trims to the dollar. Honestly doubtful I will be moving forward with my reservation at that price. Bummer.

Man that is janky AF lol. That is the one thing I don't like, why even bother offering it as an accessory? I can buy a wheel, tire, cover, and ratchet strap on my own. I guess it wouldn't be the official cyber tire cover and cyber ratchet strap though.
Definitely a weak solution.

Range extender is reported as an external device. So maybe something that can be added after, hopefully to CT's that get the tax incentive, to keep prices in the rebate game, or upgrade as needed.

Remember, in 2024, tax incentive comes off actual price of vehicles, not off taxable income requirements.
I don’t think you can purchase AWD, get the range extender, and apply for the credit. Prepare to purchase separately?

I’m pretty bummed about the price also but Tesla isn’t a non-profit. They have billions invested in the development and production of this truck. If they honored the original price they’d be like Ford and selling them at a loss forever. Elon has already said it’d take them 18 months to even start making a profit. Profit is the point. Not customer loyalty.
There is no way his costs went up 60% over the 2 year extension - if anything the efficiencies gained over that time would have compensated for the inflation. He pitched a product to us that all of us would have been able to recommend to our friends and family. I make a quarter million a year and what he released is something that I can't even recommend for myself anymore, and I've been a fanboy for years now. This is a massive fail and bait and switch.

The cost of everything has gone up since the original Cybertruck pricing and I guarantee that no one’s cost went up 60%. Many manufacturers just took advantage of inflation as a way to boost profitability not having anything to do with production cost. I can distinctly remember cereal boxes getting smaller along with price increases. Manufacturers were trying to squeeze every penny out of us they could, while they could. I’m sure Tesla had a team all along working on how to price it to get the most profit while scaring the least amount of people away. They have billions to recoup and I’m sure that plays a part. For some buyers, any increase in the price from the original was gonna be a no go. I honestly feel for anyone who waited years and aren’t able to pull the trigger. The bottom line though is their bottom line. That has more say in pricing than any of our opinions.

No, the point is that this pricing for this range, isn't going to disrupt the ICE truck market.
I think the RWD and AWD Dual Motor will eat into the pickup market big time. That add-on Battery option will be a game changer for the range anxiety plagued.
Dual is more expensive than I expected but with V2X standard I can forego a power wall for backup power.
You need a Powerwall in order to take advantage of Vehicle to Grid with the Cybertruck

Fn Shite I just realized they have 7500 ev tax credit on the 320 awd variant - if you want the extender its gonna push beyond 80,000 so its a HUGE margin of price difference.

So if you wanted 500ish miles of range you're going to have to poney up the dough or stick with 320 DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT DAMNIT

Hmmm, what if it is an ADD-ON option AFTER the sale? Like strapped down in the bed and plugged in somehow? Then I'd get the AWD at $79,990 to qualify for the $7500 credit, and THEN add the spare battery in the bed...

Initially, the Dual was supposed to $50K at release 2021. Two years late, 2023, the price is now $80K, an increase of 60%. Cannot blame inflation for 60% increase.
Yes, that is correct
