I received mine this evening but I'm not sure I can justify the extra 20k. Are they really limiting these trucks to 1000?
For the "extra $20k" you get at least $15k in extras. If your income is above tax credit threashold, seems like an easy decision.

Tesla Foundation series includes:

$295 1. All-Weather interior liners
$115 2. glass roof sunshade
$40 3. Center console tray
$45 4. Gear locker dividers
$40 5. Vault D-rings
$25 6. L-track hooks
$25 7. L-track bottle opener
$1,000 8. White decor (current Tesla upcharge from black to white interior)
$600 9. Powershare charger
$1,000 10. Powershare/Powerwall v3 gateway plus installation up to $4,000
$3,000 11. 20 inch Cyberwheels with 35 inch tires (based on Rivian upcharge and cost of one Cyberwheel spare $1,200)
$7,000 12. FSD if configured on order
$1,000 13. Lifetime premium connectivity ($100 per year)
-------------------------------------------------------------
$14,185 plus Powershare gateway installation - up to $4,000

Imo, don’t think the formula is that intensive.

My assumption on query:
1. Live in CA or TX (based on Tsla’s profile information)
1a. Maybe the 1000 Founders edition is exclusive to the above states since they are where the factories are located
2. Early RN range
3. Perhaps Tri model selection from early RN

Random selection from this pool.
We've had people who didn't have Tri or FSD on their orders who got the letter, so... #3 is wrong.

I think it's definitely having the TeslaAccount having an address, and then some subset of addresses in those states.

And despite the 'the line is meaningless' it seems to be early reservations.

So it costs $ 3,000.- to lose 22 miles of range

It got to a low 1128 but haven’t seen any higher. I’m a 11284.

I'm a 11283---- nothing so far....today got the "$1000 off text for MS,X,MY,M3 for the first time"; some seem to suggest that may be a first step toward the ultimate 'Foundation' email??

I’m still devastated from Friday night when I realized my Houston address wasn’t in my Tesla profile

A couple points:

Gateway V3 will cost closer to $2k
Going price for FSD is ~$12-13k. The $7k is not going to be valid as pricing was always subject to change (says so right in the original document for your $100 deposit).

one more point….the wheels & tires come standard so not sure why you have them as a premium.

poster seems to be looking to scope the value to a buyer based on the assumption they locked in the $7K rate

someone who didn’t, can imagine greater value in the package

For the AWD, the premium wheels are not standard

For the Cyberbeast, the premium wheels are assumed to be standard

poster listed it this way apparently without clarifying that the wheel value can be considered by someone ordering an AWD, but perhaps not a Cyberbeast (if they’re already baked in to standard MSRP)

What’s not known is the price delta to select the AT vs AS tires

since Foundation can’t be configured absent either AT or premium wheels, likely won’t know until first normal retail order configurations come out

but based on Tesla’s delivery timeline estimates for the Foundarion units, may be a month or two before we see a normal retail configuration (assuming Tesla doesn’t want to get out over its order/delivery date skis).

basically, the Foundatiin unit pricing obligates you to add almost every available option, whether one-time or subscription, on vehicle, or charging-related.

ironically, the people who had locked in $7K FSD pricing back in 2019 are now getting less value for the package than are folks who had declined to lock in FSD

Wish Tesla had offered Foundation units at two different prices, lower for those who had locked in $7K FSD, and noted it.

but appears Tesla correctly assumed that folks most eager for FSD in 2019 would also be most eager to be first to the truck

This is incorrect. The price was secured at $7K.

True only for those who selected FSD back in 2019…most did not. As such, the majority would be based off of the $12-13k as I indicated.

Yeah that would take $5k off my order...if I get the Foundation offer at all.

I am still torn a bit between Foundation or not. Luckily I don't have to choose atm.

Oh and you should account for the Lightbar in the calculation for a Foundation series TM…all told the premium is actually not much of a premium at all….
