That $30K is NOT Profit. Profit = Revenue (or Sales) - COGS
That $30K represents money saved but it is not profit. :geek:
If you were my accountant, I'd fire you.

If you make money, and you don't spend it, it's profit. If you spend it, it's gone.

I own a business and so it’s actually my corporation that is buying the truck. It also qualifies for Section 179 bonus depreciation. That’s why the higher than expected price tag doesn’t bother me so much, this truck is one giant write off for my company ?

I think a lot of people buying the early trucks will either have so much money they don't care or business owners.

Mine is an engineering business so it’ll be out on construction sites on a regular basis. Expecting a lot of construction workers to be like: wtf is that?!?

Suggest you fire your accountant regardless.. ( That would be yourself).

You are retired, there are VITA Programs that is run by college accounting Junior and Senior. They will do your "accounting" for free and they all know the difference between "Savings" vs "Profit" (as in you can't make a profit on yourself :p ) They will do a much better job than an "old dog" and they will do it with a smile and for FREE.

From a five year or longer perspective considering costs of ownership, other new truck offerings are not any more affordable than the Cybertruck either, let alone the fact they are inferior to the Cybertruck when it comes to performance, driving experience, and durability. Substance will prove itself over time regardless of brand.

I'm sure the cancellations will not be zero, but I'm also nearly as sure those cancellations will be publicized and amplified desperately by the haters just like they try to push the false narratives of Teslas always catching fire, even though it's a small fraction of the fires in ICE cars.

Brain-washed or peer-controlled people can try to superficially sneer at the Cybertruck all they want, but in the end, they expose themselves as chorus echoing sheep who are clueless of its utility and performance.

Each cancellation brings my Cybertruck one unit closer, so knock yourself out of the line. I'm fine with that!

Whittling down the 2 million reservations to 400,000 will help bump up real buyers in the reservation queue (If the 20% conversion rate is accurate).

Hell No to using or valuing the assistance of kids with zero actual experience to "assist in taxes." Tax rules change quite rapidly and are often quite complex. Things are better since Trump's tax reform package, but not enough to change a basic rule such as don't hire inexperienced people when you need the voice of experience.

Might look at the clean commercial tax credit too, it’s $7500. I went with the awd even though it’s less of a write off because I don’t want to be buying tires twice a year with the kind of acceleration in the beast ;)

You sound like my wife. I spent 70 bucks instead of 100, so I make $30 in profit. NOPE! That’s not profit…

Whoa, thank you! I was so bummed that I didn't qualify for the regular $7500 tax credit but I wasn't even aware of this

While I would love the Cyberbeast as I had the tri-motor on reserve, I think the dual motor is by far the sweet spot. It has got 340 mile range, it starts at $80K and qualifies for the IRA, and the technology alone makes it far superior than any other truck on the planet.

No doubt that the Cybertruck seems to be sold out for 2+ years. In other words, if you were to place a deposit now, I wonder if you would get one before 2026. This is insane!
