I happened upon a FB post made by Steven Dang (Tesla employee), that was shared with me by a fellow EV enthusiast in another group I am apart of. I searched to see if it had been shared here, but couldn’t see that it was. If this is a duplicate, I apologize in advance. He is answering the top questions asked by individuals regarding the Cybertruck and will be updating it as he continues to experience different use cases involving snow/ice performance, towing etc. I just thought I would share. Rather than provide the FB link, which may be against the rules, I just provided a screen shot of his current post.

P.S. - I edited this post to include the link shared by @charliemagpie Thanks for sharing this! https://www.facebook.com/groups/2454508274644702/user/529937388/

Egads:

2. kWh and Wh/mi
So I am currently on a road trip from CA to FL, I have traveled 2,439 mi so with a total energy consumed at 1,328 kWh. With these data points, I am averaging 545 Wh/mi.
3. True Range
With my lead foot, I have been getting about 300 miles of usable range. 80% in chill mode with cruise control set to 75 to 85 mph depending on the state I was in. I hit and sustained Vmax (113mph) for a few minutes before bring it back to 85-95 mph.

Efficiency (545 Wh/mi) tracks [link to other thread]
but the 300-mile range does not track at all unless I'm missing something:
410 Wh/mi = (123 kWh / 300 miles)*1000

I'd normally agree.

But he didn't directly say that both of those occured at the same time or the whole time in what he wrote.

His actual "full trip" average was 1328kWh/2439miles = 0.545Wh/mile.

But that doesn't stop him from doing "a" 300 mile trip inside of that distance at 380Wh/mile to get 300miles range.

So his 545 Wh/mi also includes preconditioning/heating and if he is in camp mode while sleeping. I wonder how much sentry mode is being used too.

Tesla employee so to be taken with a grain of salt, but better than nothing considering these things have been "out" for a month now.
Looking forward to one of these delivered to a regular person.

181 miles of range when highway driving seems the average right now :(
Only 3 people reporting real world range but that is rough, if they hook up a trailer will have less than 100 miles most likely.

Some long charging stops (refills) to go along with that high Wh/Mile efficiency.

Sub-150 legs (see second X thread below for maps)

Yup! Keep posting this is great info.
Meanwhile, I just called the dealership to check on my day 1 Silverado EV reservation. 400 mile range starting to sound better and better. lol

I've watched several Silverado EV youtube videos with their lead designers and engineers to believe they have thought through it very well (towing, spare, frunk, outboard power, etc). Obviously, they have a big battery to help with some of that.

It will be very shocking to me if the RST ends up with efficiency on par with the CT. Tesla has always been - IMO - about four things:
  • leading range (not always the absolute best, but it is always near top of the class)
  • best-in-class efficiency
  • best overall charging experience (again, not necessarily the absolute most kwh under the curve but near top of the class and the combination of efficiency, speed, and reliability/ convenience make it hands-down best)
  • great software
The data pouring out of these road trip tests suggests to me that Tesla may have slipped off-brand on this.

Agree. We do know that at least for the Chevrolet Silverado 4WT data which confirms one aspect of that with the calculated miles/kWh that is in my table.

100% Those runs all included launches and zoomies.
I don't know why people can't understand this. Not a single person is interested in hypermiling this truck yet lol
