I’m expecting 250 miles of range on the highway.
Yea I was figuring with 340 for the AWD I would get about 270-280 but it is looking like unless your going downhill or 55mph and getting rear ended it is going to be under 200........which is tough

Here's the chart we're going to need, this is from my Model Y with 91,500 miles on it. A tiny sample is just that, tiny.

The other consideration is that Tesla optimizes their machines over time with OTA updates. I wouldn't be surprised if the CT gets an eco mode like the Model S and X before too long.

Just wait for more data.

It would be a little odd if the ONLY real world range data coming out about these trucks, a MONTH after launch was some negative conspiracy, especially considering two of the three contributors are Tesla employees.
I think the people posting also aren't experienced with EV's. Once a few influencers get their hands on one, more information will come out. Just because they work at Tesla, it doesn't mean they know much about EV's.

Agree that more data is helpful, but this is ALL the data we have from 4 years of waiting and people are trying to decide weather they should put $1,000 down today and drop $120k on a truck next year.
3,000+ miles of road trip miles, 3+ drivers, 3 different FS CTs, and 3 different routes/areas. All showing 700ish wh/mile is not what the data will be a year from now, but it at least gives people a ballpark.

I agree with that, but a customer shouldn't have to have 1,000 hours of experience to use a consumer product and get at least 70% of the range. The one non-Tesla employee has owned 3 different Teslas, so not an EV newbie, and one of the Tesla employees I believe upgraded from a model Y.

*edit two of the three people posting real range have owned at least 2 teslas each previously

@dandor

Driven well over 400k in EV's from -35f to 125. Also know what my needs are. I agree we can maybe all tone it down on the speculation a bit, but we have reason to be somewhat concerned.

The truck is expensive. It is now starting to out price competitors. Some just would like to know again is it a real 318 or 340 with the tires that aren't available yet.

North Dakota has some nice 100 mile runs that have less that 10 feet or so of elevation changes between superchargers. I used to do 85 mile per hour runs between them and the older S's didn't lie as much as the new ones. Nothing lies like a 3 or a Y.

Please don't broad stroke us all thinking we know nothing as we are truck people. Most of us own multiple Tesla's and are far from EV novices.

The only way you’re going to know for sure is when you take delivery of your truck and find out first hand?

Unfortunately that is how Tesla does their range and they won't change. Figure 70% during the winter and 80% during the summer if you are a highway driver that keeps up with traffic.

Unlike other manufacturers of EV's, Tesla makes a profit on their cars. They know people want 300 mile range, so they made the smallest battery possible to do this and legally publish this as their range. If the truck said 260 miles, people would freak out. Putting over 300 makes people more comfortable buying it.

source? Elevation gain? temp? battery pre-conditioned? State of charge when starting? Any useful info?

Also, an average of 63mph doesnt really matter if you spent a bunch of time going very slow through a city and then blasted it on the highway going super fast.

Just based on this info we have no useful information about real world range.
All that is true. However unless they climbed many thousand feet without descending these number really suck. This is why I waited 10-15 minutes to order my Cybertruck. I wanted a new truck in about 5 years but not earlier than 6 months after unveiling. Surprisingly I got an invite to order a Foundation Series CT this week anyways. I just ignored it because I don't have enough data to commit at any price. Only time will tell if the Cybertruck is truly as disastrous as these reports.

If these early unscientific estimates of real world CT range are largely true the CT may only sell as many per year as the X and Y. Who in their right mind will spend 100K for a truck that is significantly range restricted? Only those that will use it as an in town status ride. Sure hope these early reports are red herrings.

The lack of transparency, poor communication, and scalpers pricing firmly answer the question is Tesla different than legacy auto.. I admire Elons many achievements but this rollout has been a world class %@#$show.

I think most of us were expecting 80% and prepared for 70% but these folks driving a few thousand miles across country in these AWD CTs are getting like 50% at 700-800 wh/mile and 178 miles of range.

Sounds eerily familiar... not too long ago we were saying pretty much the same for the price increase as we are now about the range decrease.
Exactly what I was thinking. Hopefully these numbers are wildly inaccurate for some reason, but if they’re not?

Absolutely no way in hell I’d pay 60% MORE… for 60% LESS… ??

Based on every other Tesla I own it will be more like 220-250 depending on speed and outside temps.

That's just the reality.
