yeah still waiting for the type that faces backwards and can be attached to a stroller, they take up way more room
having been in a CT, i'll say that rear facing seats will work just fine in terms of 'legroom' dimensions to the front seat. At least, while there is a bit less of that 'legroom' dimension than in say an F150, there is more than in say my wife's expedition. So on that dimension, a rear-facing seat will no doubt fit, but may be just a touch less forgiving than in an F150.

There is, however, the separate matter of what types of seats might fit three across.

Obviously there exist even sedan that technically fit three across, assuming the owner-parent correctly selects which three seats are being used.

What remains to be seen, and seems dubious, if if three full-sized car seats (e.g., Clek foonfs) will fit three across, like they can in an F150

For that matter, unclear to a degree whether full-sized but narrow seats (e.g., Clek flo's) will fit three across.

for what it's worth, unlike an F150 the CT does have LATCH available for all three rear seats, including the middle. (I personally haven't used LATCH much, given the weight limits they cap at, but it may be relevant for some parents out there)

look at all that space in between the two car seats, my poor wife is squashed when sitting in our model Y between both car seats. Can’t wait for the Cybertruck!

We had 2 Clek Foonfs and 2 Diono radian 120s in the model X at different times, but never 3 across. The most we've had was 1 Foonf and 2 booster seats and that was hand crushingly difficult to buckle. Hopefully a Cybertruck will make it to the Car Seat Lady so they can update their database for 3 across compatible vehicles.

13" of space, to be ~exact

for reference, the main rear seats are 19" wide

since I'm at it, @scottyah , worth mentioning the Cleck foonf/flo are each 17" wide

so while never say never, i think the three-across scenario will work only with some careful selection of narrower seats than anything eg Cleck sells

just using Clek as a proxy

I've got two forward facing convertible car seats and want to be able to fit a full size human back there too. I may have to go full youtuber and get the dionos and leave the existing ones in the wife's car

this has been the primary source of my focus on the rear seat area for months

because here’s my F150 with three flo’s across

Tesla Cybertruck Child Car Seat (Rear and Forward Facing) Fit Check ✅✅ B5CBA6A9-1220-40B8-855C-5AE869EBE20D

decent hand room for buckling as well (such as it is with any car seat installation)

Car seat lady will definitely include the CT as a three-across capable, but with her usual spat of caveats of seat types as with various “3 across” sedans / SUVs like your Model X

In my truck, note in particular the room between the rear facing seat and the back of the driver’s seat (I’m 6’2” and the seat is in driving position, not entry/exit position)

CT will have a bit less of *that* rearward-facing dimension/flexibility (especially with seats that have anti-rebound bars), but should be materially better than your X?

For what it’s worth,** Model X rear legroom is listed as 38.7”, while CyberTruck is listed as 40.9

**I’m not sure from what front seat position Tesla does their measurements, to know how this translates to your searing position - these things really are a ‘have to try it yourself’ - legroom calcs are one of the complicated/gameable auto measurements

(Ford’s comes in at 43.8”, with the method being measured with the front seat positioned to give 40” of leg room)

Yeah, rear facing foonfs with the anti-rebound bar would make the car seat touch the back of the front seats in the Model X unless you sacrificed front seat legroom. Don't we already have measurements on hip and legroom specs on the Cybertruck, and comparisons against the F150 or have those numbers not been confirmed?

we do, and I’ve charged them all out over here

But as I was mentioning earlier, interior calc dimensions are one of the trickiest to compare apples-to-apples, and can be misleading

for example, I’ve sat in the back seat of a CT and do NOT understand how Tesla arrived at its conclusion that the rear headroom (39.05) is only 1” shorter than an F150 (40.4)

fwiw, the Tesla-stated rear headroom of 39.05 is also supposedly 1” shorter than the Model X rear headroom (41”).

Agreed, My 8 yo son’s booster is so much more narrow than my 3 yo girl’s bulky car seat, we are also thankfully done having kids!
