Foundation Cybertruck trade-in for new Cybertruck in future?

Anyone have any experience with purchasing a Tesla vehicle and then trading it in for a new one of the same model.
My questioning is developing to see if Tesla provides a very good trade in value?
I believe Tesla might update some physical features on the CT after some time and if I wanted to upgrade to the newest one would my Foundation series truck have a good trade in value?
Or depreciate a lot in value?
Would it get a better value the newer the truck, as in 9 months versus 14 months.
I’d like to jump on the Foundation CT to receive it this year.
I’d also like to have physical updates if made in a few months. (Like rear camera washer, etc).
Might not be able to have it all.?

In General they really low ball trade-ins; just traded a model 3 long range with autopilot & life streaming for 6k bellowing prevailing prices (for Y performance). It was worth it to me because I could drive it while I waited for the new vehicle. Tax cut thru Value of old car ect.The CT is too new to tell but they will most certainly cut your trade in value when CTs start flooding the streets.

In my experience. Tesla trade in offers are in line with market value and very close to what you'd get trading in a vehicle anywhere else.

No one knows for sure, but i'd assume standard vehicle depreciation will apply to the CT, so probably 20-30% depreciation by year 2.

Short answer: It’d be an expensive way to experience the CT. Have you not bought a new model vehicle before? ?? (Not sure if you are just posting to post, or just wanting to spend a lot of money for “the experience”.)

If you want to minimize depreciation loss, you'll do better selling your CT on the open market (but not before one year of ownership). The loss in value is largely the cost of being an early CT owner. How important it that to you in $$?

The better version is not 9 months away. They won’t even be ramped yet on the current revision.

my guess is in 3 years we will have much cheaper versions of it, with much better batteries. Along with range options that start to make towing practical. Prob other minor refinements of course.

By the time it’s worth upgrading, the truck will be readily available and lots on he second hand market. We will all loose plenty of value being early adopters. We are not buying a foundation CT as an investment or value proposition. It’s FOMO and all the Tesla awesomeness as early as possible.

No. Tesla is the worst investment you can make in a vehicle if you ask me. Maybe other EVs could be worse but my experience is from owning 2 Model Y Long Range vehicles. I got the trade-in offer for my $72k 13 month old MYLR from Tesla just days ago. $36k was the offer. I freaked out and talked with them. The final answer....

This is the message to a customer that bought 2 Model Ys last December and was planning to purchase a FS CT. $240k worth of purchases in just over one year and this is the answer you get from Tesla.
Tesla and Apple are like the same company. Very slick tech and a lot of platitudes about the world and blah blah blah. But customers? Shut up and give us your money. You are a financial node and nothing more. One of millions feeding into the company that will raise or drop the price wildly and rapidly, fail to deliver on features and promises. And you will suck it up and like it because we have (for now) the best vehicles (kind of).

The CT FS will plummet in resale value. The $20k in extra stuff you get is potentially worth it if you hold on to the vehicle long term (FSD, bi-directional install), but it has close to $0 resale value. That means day one, you're down $20k off the lot.

Now think about when there is something that looks identical to what you're driving, that costs someone $52k after tax rebate. Sure that doesn't mean your truck isn't more capable, but you're now driving a mass produced automobile that can be bought for half of what you paid. I'd imagine depreciation of 40% is a sure thing once there's any volume RWD production, which could happen as soon as 18 months from now. A brand new $52k RWD CT, versus a brand new AWD CT for $72k, versus a 20k miles used $58-$60k AWD CT, I could see the argument either way and that's likely where the value sits in early 2026.

Would you buy a $100k Rav4 that goes 0-60 in 2.6 seconds and has steer by wire? Most likely someone at that price range would be looking at a whole different class of vehicle. That's the issue we will face on resale, it's gonna be real ugly in 2 years.
