I have a similar questions as others, does the wire(s) on the review mirror have power?

Since the rearview mirror is useless when the tonneau is closed, I really hope Tesla has a plan to add the washer fluid option to the camera on the tailgate. Seriously, they should add that option to ALL of their vehicles. I have an S and Y and they both suffer from limited visibility from the rear camera when backing up. It is going to be much worse when you drive the CT with the tonneau closed (which I am planning to do 100% of the time that I don't have anything in the bed).

Not to mention that, at least out east, when the weather is such that your backup camera lens is getting filthy, it is usually raining and/or snowing so opening the tonneau to see back would not be a good option. I'm surprised that a 100k vehicle doesn't have some way to keep the lens clean (though I know that involves more parts). It's compounded by the fact that I notice that my backup lens is filthy when I am backing out at the start of a trip and by the time I am parked at the other end I forget to clean it when getting out (unless I back into the spot and get another dose of useless picture). Of course, the camera on my tacoma is pretty shitty under the best of circumstances so maybe the CT camera will be a little more tolerant of some road grime.

it seems that there is no built in homelink, and as of now there is not a homelink accessory to purchase to add the functionality. The only built in garage door functionality is subscription and wifi based MyQ, which only works if you retrofit your garage doors, the servers are up, and your wifi reaches the garage door motor. This is particularly a problem for anyone with gate access and community garage doors/gates. Wifi won't reach a gate away from the house, and community garage doors can't be modified just because an auto manufacturer can't be bothered to offer a garage door opener as an option.
Have you considered ISMARTGATE? Silly name, but I've used their garage door openers for my 3 car garage for years and it's been flawless. So long as you have internet connection for your phone anywhere on Earth, you can open, close and check temperature of door sensors. No subscription - and easy install interface with your inside garage door touchpads and your wireless router. Great for me for when I need access from my utility tractor, skid steer or just carrying in bulky items not suited for entry door...edit bc I forgot to mention that of course I also use the ISSMARTGATE App with my Model Y. ?

issue there is, my gate nor my garage doors are in range of wifi, so it isn't possible to use a device other than a normal garage door opener. even if I could extend my network enough for the garage doors, I can't extend far enough for the gate.

You can't really see anything with the tonneau open, either.

A couple of years ago, I installed a hydrophobic cover from Abstract Ocean on my ModelY. Crystal clear views with zero issues. Super easy installation, too.

You make "eye contact with a rear passenger" sound nefarious. My work truck has camper shell that makes seeing traffic to the rear all but impossible. The only thing I use the rear view mirror for is holding conversations with rear passengers and it comes in handy enough that I'd never remove it.
You have to keep an eye on the dog ;>)

Hey this makes me think you have your CT already? In that case congrats!
I yam in Henderson too, pls LMK if you might ever be somewhere nearby and would not mind allowing an in-person looksee. Thanks.
I have a Beast configured but that means not for another half year or so, and have not yet seen a CT in person.
I'm in the north side of Vegas, Kyle Canyon exit. I'm curious too about the picture of the truck maybe in Henderson... Employee? #270 on the orders list, hoping to get 1 of the first CT's in NV. We should set up a FB group of just us Battle Born people. I saw my 1st CT last week on a trip to Reno, by the Gigafactory on the USA Parkway, pulling a trailer. was so quick I didn't even have a chance to get a picture.

Does that support location-based opening like previous Teslas? (i.e. automatically open when you pull into your driveway). Not thrilled about having another app running on my phone, though.

I design and invent a lot of stuff. if you can accurately measure that shape I can quickly draw up a model in CAD that can be used to 3D print an insert. (Which I will freely share and happy to mail you a few 3D prints to get the tolerance correct.) that way when my Cybertruck comes, I have it ready for my garage opener!

The insert could be hollow and hold the internals of a garage door opener, touch light, etc. hopefully it’s deep enough to sit flush.

is that cover plate ferrous? (Magnet attached) If so, the insert could have a little magnet so you could just pop it on and off.
Have you ever done a lock for the external cable to prevent someone from removing the cable when you use a J1772 adaptor? My daughter has several eng. she works with who love 3d printing I've been telling her for a long time they need to make one of those and share.

Would the application of RainX repel the rain???
I gave up on RainX well before I discovered HydroSilex- which worked pretty well until oily road grime accumulated and would need to be washed with cleaner and HS need replenishing. So, when AO came out with a hydrophobic rear lens cover, I gave it a try. It's a sealed attachment and hasn't needed any "cleaning" other than when the rest of my HS coated MY gets hand cleaned using HS Silica Soap applied in my pressure washer wand applicator (very satisfying/fun to do) or commercially Car Washed IF absolutely necessary due to salt grime in Winter. Nothing, including my 3,200psi pressure washer has affected the AO Cover. Of course, I don't purposefully blast directly at the Cover, but mental lapses have occurred where I suddenly realize I should be more careful. Sorry about the long-winded, but I should add that maybe RainX product has improved, but as you can tell, I'm very happy with "my" solution to the loathed filthy rear camera. Good luck to you, too!
