I converted my FS AWD to non-FS AWD via Tesla app chat before VIN was assigned. New ETA Oct. 31, 2024

Full timeline
I got FW invite on Jan. 11. Got excited, ordered FS AWD next day.

Got hit with buyer remorse and after reading this tread decided to wait and see.
On Friday, Jan. 19, got invite to "Complete Pre-Delivery tasks" and I asked via chat to downgrade.
Today, Jan. 22 - I completed tasks: provided driver license, declined trade-in, specified payment. About an hour later I got chat message that my FS order was changed to "Standard AWD". I asked to confirm that I am not losing my place in RN line and got confirmation that downgrade ".. will not cancel your order and once AWD is available for configuration you will still be able to configure the AWD"

Later I went to Cybertruck - Pre-delivery tasks and under "Schedule" tab it shows
"Your delivery is on hold
Earliest Delivery
10/31/24"

Thanks for sharing all the details. Look like there is a chance to downgrade it. But I was a little concern on 10/31/24... a bit far.. I thought it can be June-Aug timeframe...not sure if you could keep your original queue. a bit confusing

If it helps my RN puts me in 80k+, so according to calculator here my ETA was November 2024.
So in my case I might get it 7 months later for $20k cheaper.. hopefully :)

If you knew you were for sure getting it in October. That’s a lot of variables that have to go exactly right.

If @cbrtrckrsrvd112219 is placed at the end of the line, he would not be promised Oct, '24 availability.

With 2 million reservations, it would be sometime 2030.

Why do you assume all 2 million reservation would buy the truck , conversion will be 20% at best
Tesla knows about it , that is why on reveal they provided 2024 and 2025 timelines

Yep, that is the big if..
For me to get it in October Tesla need to produce 2k CTs a week right now. Which is no happening right now as we see 20 units a day on outbound lot..
My hope that conversion is not gonna be 100% either. But again, ramp up is main factor

they said "earliest delivery" is end of Oct. After more thought, I think Tesla plans to finish FS by Oct (probably targeting 10,000 units by then), then start taking all non-FS order from Oct, start delivery at 10/31/24. They will start telling "Earliest 10/31/24" to all reservation holder who wait for non-FS. all my guess:) hope we can find more info on Wed

Tend to agree. Though not sure they would start delivering until all the Cyberbeast foundation orders are out. So that would likely be sometime later...

Damn that sounds cool but washy. I'm just tired of waiting I guess. Im scheduled to get and lease the new model 3 in February. I figured I wouldn't get a configure for about a year or so but then I got one last week. I've never own a Tesla even though I've been a fan of the vehicles for a long time.

I held off for a while, I wanted my first Tesla to be the Cybertruck so I'm cancelling the model 3 and jumping with the extra 20k. It is what it is.

This is interesting. Delivery on hold as opposed to going back to showing that you'll be "notified to complete your Cybertruck configuration as production nears."

I'm guessing you no longer have a "Start Designing" button. They said you'll no longer have the option to match to a FS VIN. It really looks like it's just a hold until the end of October.

What if AWD options come up starting in March? Will the app open for you to configure that or will you have to contact them again? Have they sent you docs showing that it's now a standard AWS configuration?
in app in top left corner under RN11283xxxx number I have "View details" link, when I click on it still shows FS Design 35inch wheels, White decor, FSD, Premium accs.

No email with documentation.
Under Account, Order Agreement did not change, still shows FS

Wow, that’s awesome they let you downgrade and not lose your spot. Total opposite of what I was told on the phone and when I went in.
they said I could downgrade and not lose the $1,000, but I’d lose my place in line.
I really don’t want to wait another year, so I may keep my order.
totally sucks I can’t get the $7,500, but I’ll get some use out of the extras included for the 20k.
Why can’t we get the $7,500 tax credit? The truck is $79k … FSD doesn’t count. The rest are options like bidirectional charging equipment… not the truck.
