Looks like only CA and TX are getting the CT so far. I am curious though. For thos that ordered January 2nd, has anyone in those states gotten a VIN yet?

I wouldn’t expect a VIN for a hot minute…
I ordered on 12/15 and still have not received a VIN.

I really think that once this first batch of 12/8-12/9 are mostly filled, you'll see them start delivering more out of order than the order date. There is a regionalization play here.

12/15 Orders (Batch 2) have not received a VIN yet. At this pace, it is going to be quite a few months until January orders see delivery. Unless the ramp changes velocity substantially.

Remember the fact the Model 3 ramp was significantly long. The CT is doing better according to the VIN tracker. The CT is more difficult to manufacturer. Only time will tell how long it will take to increase delivery velocity. I'm not counting on 24' being the year of the CyberTruck.

Yeah I think you’re most likely correct. I have a 12/15 order with no VIN yet. Am in Utah like you @Mattsplat and have noticed that many of the 12/15 orders are in non CA, TX and FL like NV, UT, NC, VA, WA etc.

Makes sense to me. Get those coastal high population areas rolling with the CT first.

In the meantime I’ll be here in the mountains playing in the snow, patiently waiting…. Hahaha.

I ordered on 12/26 from Cali with no vin yet. I thinking I’m at least another month out……minimum.

Regionalization and/or initial Tesla employee bias maybe? (would explain TX / CA)

Yeah. I am just trying to figure out if the VINs are being assigned by date and taking waiting to ship or if they are just not assigning any VINs that aren't CA/TX. Someone at Tesla needs to learn the virtue of under-promise, over-deliver. They always do the opposite and make promises they don't keep. Kinda frustrating. Maybe it should have said something like "Delivers Jan-March (CA and Texas only, other states TBD)

FWIW from all the stuff I've read here I feel like they're largely being assigned by date. You probably remember that the first invites on 12/8 seemed to be CA/TX only (like > 95%) so if they do go in order you'll still see that geographical bias...

I'm fine waiting, since each CT built gives them more experience to improve.

However, the clock is ticking on my loan pre-approval...
And my MYLR trade-in quote expires in 3 days and Tesla will probably drop the trade in even more from the B.S. offer they gave me.

Trade-ins with Tesla are always sub-optimal.

It would be encouraging to see a handful of random deliveries in non-CA/TX states. Or at least a new state added to the list and not just those two.
