They all have the battery at the center of the vehicle, but that’s irrelevant. The charge current needs to reach the BMS.
lol no

Teslas use busbars from the charge port to the BMS, not “cable”.

Minimizing the distance between the BMS and charge port is optimal, which is why Tesla installs the BMS to the rearward (aft?) area of the battery pack.

The problem with most cars is that they just installed it on the wrong side of the vehicle.

AFAIK, it's only the Lightning that installed the connector between the wheels. Everyone else seems to be outside the wheelbase. I wouldn't be surprised if Ford didn't use a longer interconnect patch than Tesla does. Tesla's is really short.

Just because it is announced, doesn't mean anything is going to happen this year. It may take forever for Ford to get these things out into the field.

There are chargers that can support wrong side charging.
It was “announced” last May

the announcement said access begins in Spring of 2024

these texts say Ford will begin shipping them “soon”

and say what you will about Ford v Tesla etc, but one thing for sure is that Farley uttering the word “soon” is not like Musk uttering the word “soon”

As an owner or both a Lightning and a Tesla, that means I can park my Lightning sideways across 4 spots and not have anyone get mad at me. I already do this at the Magic Dock charger near me, it's the only way to plug in, so it is not my fault.

You sound like one of those weirdos who drives in the middle of 2 lanes and defends it by saying "I pay taxes on both sides of the road"

If the lane was only wide enough for half a vehicle, I'd drive in both lanes to accommodate my vehicle. Since lanes are wide enough for my vehicle, this isn't a good comparison.

If my option is to take up multiple stalls because the cord length isn't long enough, or to be stranded with a dead battery, I will take up multiple stalls. This isn't a problem brought on by non-Tesla owners, this is a problem brought on by Tesla. Either Tesla needed to (1) keep their chargers Tesla vehicles only, (2) increase the cord length to make it so non-Teslas can use one spot, or (3) non-Teslas need to take up multiple spots. Tesla themselves picked option 3, don't be mad at non-Tesla owners, be mad at Tesla if you see a non-Tesla taking up 4 spots.

They won’t be knuckleheads, this is on Tesla for not making longer cords before taking govt $'s. Midwest ours are usually open, except large cities etc. The articles depicting the chaos will be everywhere lol.
I would say it's on Ford for putting their charge ports on the left front just to try to isolate Tesla. It's not Tesla's fault that their plan didn't work out how they thought.

The truth is, there are not enough Ford EV's on the road (relative to the number of Tesla) to make much difference.

Let's welcome other brands of EVs to Supercharging. It's not the individual motorist's fault that Ford didn't know where to put the charge ports. I'm sure Ford will fix their problem on 2025 models.

It would be nice if they made it so all charge ports were in the same place across vehicles, but that hasn't happened with ICE vehicles yet, so I have my doubts.

I personally prefer to pull into a spot, so the charger on the rear of a Tesla always seemed odd to me. I never backed through a gas pump, why am I backing in to fuel now? My level 2 chargers at my house are both installed for pulling in to charge, in my personal opinion it's better and I put my money where that opinion was when setting up my personal charging site.

Ultimately I think cord technology is the key here, being able to keep longer cords safe while retaining charge speed and not breaking down regularly will make charge port location moot.
