I used about 99kWh and added about 210 miles to my Cybertruck (CyberBeast configuration).
Yet, Tesla changed me "307 miles" of my 2000 FREE Supercharging Miles.

I guess it's calculated by kWh? Does Tesla declare ANYWHERE? how they calculate the credits for the "Free Supercharging Miles?"

Kwh is easily measured vs miles which depends on range, hills, wind, temperature, bad driving, acceleration, tires, weight, rain, etc......

They charge you miles based upon the energy that leaves the Supercharger, not the miles that are stored in the truck. It isn't usually that different...

Definitely something to look into? Do you have video of the load at the time?

Tesla doesn't use miles that way, they just use miles based upon rated range. So it's a static number.

Unless I'm misunderstanding David.

Hi Crissa, yeah, you're 100% correct, that's how Tesla "charges us" if we are paying, per Kilowatt.

My concern here is different, my concern is that I redeemed my referral credits for "2000 Supercharging Miles".

So I already knew this is probably "false advertisement" from Tesla... because like @jerhenderson said in the comments above... the actual "miles" vary so much..

I was hoping that Tesla would go with the stated estimated "miles" from my vehicle. Since my vehicle went from a capacity of 60 miles to a capacity of 277 miles, this means my session added about 210 miles, (give or take a few miles to drive home). So I expected Tesla to use 210miles of my 2000 mile credit, but they took 307 miles of my 2000 mile credit. :)

It's not a huge deal to me, I'm just pointing out that their "supercharging miles" is false advertisement. They should say something like "### kW of Supercharging" instead of "### Miles of Supercharging"

FYI: @denniscw

TOTALLY AGREE
IN defense of Tesla, you could drive 1 mile to supercharger, charge full, drive home and use the battery for backing up your home… and drive 1 mile to supercharger.

Depends on use… has to be based on some metric and I bet it’s in some small print somewhere

I have 10,000 free supercharging miles on my Model 3 and this is not how Tesla charges me. They charge me based on the number of miles added to my car. It has been spot on every time. It would appear to me that they have a calculation/communication issue with Cybertrucks.

this is why measuring power delivered by miles per hour or miles added is so stupid. if people just started switching to display the % and deal with kw charge rate and kWh it would be less confusing overall. Tesla: We will give you 600 kWh for free, Me: ok i can understand what that means, and easily track it. same as rated range being the main number displayed on the screen when it should be estimated range, would be less confusing for people but tesla wants the numbers to look the best they can so yet it stays.

INTERESTING! I guess CT power out capabilities complicate things. You are right - probably figuring it out..

When supercharging my model 3 with free km, I actually noticed I was getting more than stated, not less.
They should just change it to free KWH rather than distance.

everywhere is a different rate tho so its still confusing. kWh is universal
If Tesla said $2k in SC it wouldn’t be confusing because at the end of the sessions it tells you exactly how much you paid.
