Got a cold call yesterday evening at 730pm from Tesla delivery team in JAX to take delivery of my AWD Cybertruck today March 22nd. I configured on January 9th a few minutes after getting the configuration email with a Jan-Mar initial delivery estimate on reservation number RN112822293.

I never received a VIN notification in the app, or via email, the phone call to schedule the delivery appointment was the first notification. When looking at the app, I have been assigned a 19XX VIN, which leads me to my questions.

Where has this Cybertruck been? Current late March deliveries seem to be greater than 32XX.

Any thoughts on what I should ask the delivery team?
How many miles should be on the odometer for a new delivery?
Obviously asking if this was a rejected delivery from someone else and why.
Good walk around looking for something someone else rejected.

Would appreciate any feedback from others that may have any ideas,

Chuck

All you can really do is give it your own inspection. They could have needed a trim panel that was in short supply. Maybe they were holding it for a good customer who had financing fall through. Impossible to know.

Or, maybe a customer rejected it, and they unmatched that vin, someone else rejected it, they decided to fix the issues instead of go further down the list to try to get someone to take it.

As long as it passes your own inspection, I wouldn't be too worried about it.

The VIN jumped out at me too when you posted it on X. But I know Jacksonville got a lot a few weeks ago. Something as simple as a missing part, or a misalignment that needed adjusting could be the reason. The key is the mileage. Mine had 12 miles on is, but the highest I've seen it 70. Anything over that should be a red flag. Knowing your celebrity status, I doubt they'd take a chance giving you some else's rejection...

BTW, as someone who has a similar unprotected left turn when leaving my neighborhood, thanks for helping Tesla get that right with FSD!!

Chuck you are a celebrity :) I wouldn't be surprised if that didn't factor in to your unexpected delivery.

I asked around about the trucks in Jax with the weird vins.
Atlantic blvd location in Jax last there were 3 CTs there being worked on that came in. All 3 had dead batteries and had to be pushed off and then fork lifted into the service center. It may be one of those three that was sent there for repair and is now being delivered. I would ask the SC about the low vin, ask about how many miles are on it, and ask what repairs were done to it. Supposedly the batteries on some of them were so dead they could not get the frunks closed and one was shipped on an enclosed trailer. See pic below.

Hope you saw the post above about the ones at the Jax Atlantic location and batteries before picking up and asked them, may be no big deal but worth asking about, especially with getting a cold call out of the blue, Tesla usually does all of that via the app with plenty of heads up so this was some kind of special circumstance.

So I took delivery today, no issues, truck had 19 miles on it. The delivery agent Brittany said that yesterday a customer chose to cancel his delivery at the last minute, so she had a local list to go to and I was next on the list, that is how it happened. I did ask about a delivery of trucks with dead batteries, they said they didn't know what I was talking about, so not sure there. In any case, I am happy with the truck, and will drive it and report any issues I find over the next few weeks through the app. Happy customer. JAX did a great job.
